Note the instantly here, you ideally need to lower engine rps and disengage the clutch, in 99% of cases going from ahead to astern without using the clutch will result in the engine stalling.
If by changing gears on the gearbox you mean to change from :
Ratio 1 5:2 to
Ratio 2 6:5
All you need is to add a toggle button to the gearbox input.
If it's about the ratios, you tick either the left and right arrows to choose what ratio you want.
When the arrow on the gearbox is pointing towards the engine, you will get more RPS at the other end than at the engine. For example, a 3:1 ratio would mean you have 3 times the engines RPS on the other side of the gearbox (if the engine can manage whatever is linked to the circuit).
When the arrow points away from the engine, it's the reverse. You get as many times less power at the end of the circuit as the chosen ratio.
