CPU - Ryzen 9 3900X
Board - ASUS ROG Strix X570-E
RAM - G.Skill Trident Z RGB 2x8GB (16GB) @ 3200MHz
GPU - (old model) ASUS DUAL RTX 2070 OC (i believe this model is discontinued)
PSU - EVGA Supernova G3 750W
Unless if by dual you mean you have two bridged together? In that case that could be the issue.
nope, Dual is just the model

Your best bet is to update your drivers, or if you're using beta drivers, rolling back to stable drivers.
Drivers are up to date, And im on 5120x1440p
The card hits 80C on this game,
I have a few temp issues with other games as well, and the card reaches 88-89C (but on MSI afterburner, the temp is supposed to be limited to 81C.
I was trying to open it one time to replace the paste but i ended up stripping the screw and made the screw hole round, and now it won't come out.
I've tried tweezers, but no luck
On desktop idle it maintains 55C. and rarely ever goes below 40.
Those... temps are insane. I have an old cheap 970Ti and stressing it with something badly optimized like New World doesn't get it to 81C°, with this game i don't get peaks of even 46C°.
I generally don't see why you would ever open a GPU up, unless you're in an extremely dusty environment. I have not opened up this 970 for 4-5 years now.
I've opened it up to replace the thermal paste, but most likely i'll probably never ever do it again lmao
But it has gotten so bad to the point where it even affects my NVME M.2 drive's temperature and literally shuts down the entire system.
When i replaced the paste about 5ish months ago the problem with the system shutting off went away
So far nothing crazy has happened, but yeah thats pretty much it.
As for that FUBAR screw, there are screw extractors even for electronics.
If you haven't absolutely stripped it clean, you can try and place a rubber band between the screw head and the screw to get more purchase on it. Alternatively get a cheap screwdriver or an old screwdriver you absolutely don't care about and get a bit of superglue to try and glue together the screw tip and the screw get purchase. The latter you have to be careful with, but not as careful as with a drill or a screw extractor, as those metal bits if not cleaned properly can be really destructive to electronics.
