what is this sentence saying
Why are basic manners such a rare gem these days? It's like, the most important part of being a human being.
Here's how I figure out my engines:
First make sure your boat is stable. For me, I never want to have so much power that I can actually flip the whole thing, since in career mode, losing ships might mean losing not only the ship which equals money, but losing possible cargo as well, like fuel and so on.
It's a balance between RPS, Torque, Speed, Fuel Consumption, and Mass.
RPS: Try and keep your center RPS at around 10. If your RPS is easily very high,, you can add more props or higher gears. If your RPS is very low, then you need to remove props, make them smaller, or add more engines.
Torque: High torque lowers your RPS, but it increases speed. It's like the strength of the engine, where as RPS is the speed. So think of it like being able to lift heavy weights.
Speed: How fast do you want to go? For me I my RPS is at around 10, my speed is around 10, and fuel consumption is under 0.5/Second. This seems optimal for me. Just make sure that if you have a tugboat, that you have extra power in your engine, and if you don't use your boat for tugging, that it is balanced enough to handle the speed you want.
Fuel Consumption: High consumption means bigger tanks. Bigger tanks mean more consumption. So if you want to go fast, make your boat light. If you want to haul stuff, go slow, keep RPS at around 10, and give it enough power and gears so that you can go at least at the speed of 6.
Mass: The more you have, the more of everything you're going to need.
If you got time could I upload me and my friends boat to take a look at? See if we're doing something dumb? It's kinda become a flat hull we taped more and more stuff to as we unlocked tech.
We're like: "We could make it fancy, but that's more weight."
As a side note, I love making stuff evolve, rather than plan it from the get go. The ship I absolutely love I have added stuff to the same way you guys have, and it's really amazing now, though I'm sure it could be more optimized. I just really like the journey we have had together :D
The horror!
