Tilted landing gear.
i'm making an airliner at the moment and wanted to put tilted landing gear, is there any way to do this or is a fantasy in stormworks.

You can use robotic pivots I think its called

Robotic pivots or rotors. Larger planes will need larger rotors as the small ones do have a weight limit, but i haven't had the time to measure how much mass they buckle under.

There is the big problem with the wheels: they must be vertical and their axis should have same rotation when wheel is in the contact with surface as it is at the moment of spawn (i.e. in the editor)

The point is that wheels are not physical objects (you can walk through them). Instead engine creates one physical point at the lowest point of the wheel as it is placed in the editor. And that point is a source of all forces from and to the wheel.

It means that if you rotate wheel by some degree - wheel will sink (partially) in the ground and some fantom forces will appere. I even made some bug-o-car using that effect.

More misinformation. Small pivots do not have a weight limit at all. In fact their strength increases exponentially as the physics bodies they are attached to increase in weight.

Maybe if you don't know anything about the game you shouldn't try to scream about what someone far more mechanically experienced and knowledgeable about the game is saying. You'll just make people confused on who to believe and what to believe.

As a background, this is a person (who has their knickers in a twist for no sensible reason) who abuses glitches and defends abusing glitches, so he'll rather cheat his way through issues instead of finding out what works and what doesn't, mechanically.

I'd never take his word on what works in the game and what doesn't, because the chances are he'll just edit the XML file to make it work his way and expect everyone else to do the same.

Keep your childish outbursts to one thread and try to act like an adult for a change.

You probably in your hissyfit forgot this is a landing gear. They're generally not massive constructs.

The small pivot buckles under weight where the larger variant does not, meaning there is a clear weight limit.

thanks g everyone for your suggestions, ill be sure to try them all.

It would be nicer when people help but not start fighting against each others players.

There isn't a weight limit. All pivots, small and large become stronger the more weight is attached to them. Landing gear is a perfect example of this, as quite often adding a couple of weight blocks will fix landing gear problems such as the pivot stretching or collapsing. It's nice you still haven't actually checked this and are still operating from an assumption.

Just wanted to thank you for your advice. I've been having problems with my landing gear / wheel collapsing and gave up on the plane for awhile before finally coming back to it and looking for solutions. I added weight blocks like you said and it worked like a charm, completely fixed the problem and I can even take off at full power without issue. Thank you!
