Stormworks: Build and Rescue

Modular engines not starting?
Decided to play around with the experimental branch, built a little inline-4 engine. Used a hose to hook it to the default hangar's fuel tank. Has exhaust and intake flow, AFR is near perfect, but the RPS refuses to get above about 3 and it never starts running. Anything I should be doing different?

Turn down your clutch for anything power drawing (including your alternator), so far most engines "Catch" after 4 ish RPS as far as I can tell

It isn't clutched into anything. Completely free of any load. The RPS just never gets higher than 3-3.5.

I'd honestly like a more powerful starter.

I had the same issue. I then tried to get everything running using a single cylinder and it worked.

I found that with multiple cylinders, only 1 air manifold is needed but each cylinder must have its own fuel manifold. This could be a wrong diagnosis but it worked for me.

See if that helps, good luck.

You should be able to force it with an elmotor.

Still nothing from only running a single cylinder. Even using a motor to force the RPS up to 20, it refuses to stay running.

Okay I built a single-cylinder with the 3x3 parts and I can get it to run, but it'll only run for a few seconds before completely shutting off. Has plenty of fuel, piping straight from the hangar's tanks.

Figured this one out too. Made it into a four-cylinder, each with individual exhaust pipes, and saw that one cylinder is always refusing to output exhaust. Replacing the pipes on that cylinder causes a different one to break. Making all the cylinders go to a single outlet just makes them all break.

I managed to get one working after much trial and error by giving each cylinder it's own air and fuel intake, got it setup like this.

It needs AFR set to about 0.65 to run.

It seems really low powered at low revs but when it hits about 24 RPS the power goes insane lol.

Mine runs individual intakes, and exhaust for that matter. It's working now, but one cylinder always gets clogged with exhaust and stops running, which reduces the power it can make.

Thanks Rasputin!
