Rope tie down

I remember ropes being said to be used to do things like tie down aircraft and what not. Has this been implimented, it seems like another useless item at the moment. Im not sure of there is some kind of hook module that just isnt spawnable with the limited in game item slection list.

Not yet, but it's definitely useful for tugging things. Used it in multiplayer a number of times to help beached/stuck friends.

how can you use it. I cant get ropes to seem to connect to anything

Have you tried using the Rope Anchors? They can connect to both an anchor point and/or a winch.

The current ropes are a tad bit too much like elastic cords for my taste. I'd not consider it reliable for tying anything down. Now if we had something like steel cables with 0 elasticity that would allow some nice contraptions.

I've used rope to tie a truck down on a flatbed rail car prior to 1.0. It was just some magalls on ropes connected to winches. Since ropes are fairly stretchy, you want to tighten them a fair bit.

Worked fine until I took a hard turn at 150 kn/h.

Given the stretch, I'd be inclined to keep using winches so you can get the ropes tight, but you can use rope anchors now which makes the whole process way easier and faster.
