Can you use winches to lower yourself from a helicopter?
I haven't been able to find a way to do it after the winch update. Because of how ropes and cables work, it seems like I can only send one signal.

Use composite to send multiple on/off signals instead of the single signal.

Yes. Attach a sling to the end of an electrical anchor. Attach the electrical anchor to a winch that will accept a composite signal. Take the composite from the sling and send it back through the anchor to the winch and then to a microcontroller to breakout the signal (ie. what is up/down/etc in the composite signal). Send that breakout to the appropriate control connections on the winch.

So I got the winch part working, but the rope doesn't have any collision with the helicopter so I can't get back inside. I'd have to move the entire winch outside of the helicopter.

In short, it "works" but isn't actually usable until they make some rope physics.

I've used (not built) a couple helicopters that do this. One of them has the winches on a rail so they can deploy over the side. The other has a clamshell door in the floor that you open once you are in the sling.

They're both airtight too, using inner doors to seal the helicopter from the sling area(s).
