Ducted fan control
So im going to assume ducted fans dont have any controls... except for sticking an engine onto it and making that go faster or slower...

ah... great... is there a way to control said fan without having to take someone else's creation and reverse engineer that? like a tutorial?

You can use either a clutch or an electric engine. There really isn't all that much to control there, like in most props.

if i use the clutch how do i install it that way?

Engine RPS Out -> Clutch -> Fans, using Pipes in between and Gearboxes will help, too. I've noticed while reverse-engineering that 4 ducted fans need to go around 15 RPS or greater to start hovering with enough thrust to carry 2 prefab medium diesels and 4 fuel tanks.

Ducted fans can be spinning at 30 RPS or greater too, but I've only ever done that when they're being used as horizontal thrusters. 2 Pushers can get around 100 knots in airspeed, I doubt they'll be going much faster than that though.
