Modding
So I thought it would be cool to mod until I learned that the game uses a custom engine.
First of all, I'm stupid, there are a lot of things I don't understand. Look, if when I say something stupid, well... you know...

I went snooping around the game files and found .mesh files (I would assume) for the blocks (The names help that, too). That's when I learned that the game runs on a custom engine.

In the end I am asking how possible it would be to mod and what would be needed... (Adding custom blocks with custom code and stuff)

I saw people modding the build limit so you can build larger ships without having to spawn them as missions.

Other than that probably pointless to do hard work changing items in the game as all your work will probably be reversed when the next update releases.

Yea, I've seen the build limit mod (and have done it myself) but was thinking more of adding in blocks, what makes this hard (For this point on is only what I assume) is that because of the proprietary game engine, a lot of the files have been made hard for normal software(s) to decode/encode. So if you want to add a block with a custom mesh, than you are going to have some problems, (I haven't look this far but) you could probobly make a new block by changing the code around to make it think it is a new block, but it would have to be the same mesh as a block that was already in the game because of the proprietary coding used for the .mesh files.

Also, you wouldn't lose anything, unless:
1. You don't make a backup of all the edited things and an update resets the parts you edited
2. There is a drastic changes to the code (or minor changes, depends what changes)
(Don't quote me though)
