Deprecated Winches
I recently started building little things in Stormworks and when I added a winch to something there were 8 different winches. There was the normal 4 and also variants of them with (deprecated) after the winch name. These deprecated winches had the rope already attached so I didn't have to go and make a cable anchor to use them. Then the next day I couldn't find them anymore. Does anyone know how I can use them in my builds again?

Those are the old winches. They got deleted. Replace them with new ones

Deprecated as a word means outdated and no longer relevant because something newer has essentially replaced them.
They were likely there for backwards compatibility to allow time for people to phase them out.

The newer winches take about 3 seconds more to set up in most applications, but are significantly more flexible in every regard

Yes but on the old ones you were able to transfer multiple on/off signals without the use of a microcontroller a feature that would be very useful for me.

They were also the only exception to the rule where you could just connect logic signals between 2 subgrids that weren't physically connected together.

It's relatively easy to facilitate a lot of connections between the two, it just takes a bit of size.

yeah, I wanted a winch with multiple connectors, it's ugly but it works I guess.

You can still load creations made with the deprecated items.

1. Exit and save your game
2. Open AppData\Roaming\Stormworks\saves\ and find your savegame folder.
3. Edit the scene.xml file and change infinite_stock="false" to "true".
4. Reload your game and spawn the creation.
5. Exit and save again.
6. Edit that line back to "false".
7. Reload once more.

Voila! You have your creation with the deprecated items. Just make sure not to return it to the workbench or you'll be back where you started.

NOTE: Using this method will not charge you to spawn your vehicle. To minimize the impact of this, before starting the process above, spawn your vehicle. That will charge you for the items. Then return to workbench and exit to delete the vehicle. At that point, start the process and you'll not be charged a second time.
