You probably have them facing the wrong way. I think the black ringed end is the output and the cone end is the input.

As Angus said fluid pumps are directional. When you place a pipe at their ends if will identify if it's input or output. Further to the discussion: what are you pumping? Where is it going? What blocks are the end points? Are you underwater? Is the pump on the same body as the switch that is to start it?

(When I wrote about the input & output, that was for a small pump. I'm yet to look at large pumps)

They both operate exactly the same: input and output, switch to turn them on. Large pump just has more capacity.

I know, but I don't think the fluid pump large has the cone end and the black ringed end. : )

True. 😊 The large one always throws me off. Can't remember if it's the sort of ringed side or the slightly largest sort of ringed side. I always have to go back to trying to fit the pipe end to be 100%.

I'll try and investigate tonight and tell you my answer : )

a typical error could be if you have connected the pump to pipes that run insde of square blocks.. it can happen sometimes that one of the pipes is not correctly connected and somewhere within a wall the pipe is facing the wrong direction.
Also double check that your pumps has power and can be turned on.
And if you have a very big ship and you trying to pump example fuel from the bottom of ship up to the surface and into a fuel tank then you properbly need more than one pump els it wont be powerfull enough.

UPDATE: I got the pumps to work so I added 27 more to my sub but now for some reason the up button fills the ballast and the down one empties it and I got the connections right

Hi- I am having a... very strange bug or something...

I am making a large patrol boat, and as the engine i selected the large prebuilt engine. It was installed correctly, with fuel etc. The only issue seems to be air intake. At first, i assumed that there was not enough pressure, but it was close enough that it -should- have been getting air.

I chose to rebuild it, and added more pumps to get airflow in. after piping everything, the engine would still not recive air! after inspecting the pumps, they also read that there was no air intake. This confused me. there was! it was ported from the top of the exaust stack, with a liquid-gas seperation system (a pipe t piece, with a liquid relif valve and end port, and a gas relif valve after that).

This confused me a lot. To test where the "blockage" was, i placed an airfilter just before it got ported into the engine. After initiating the pumps, it read a steady air flow of around ~1000. This made it even MORE strange!

So i have no clue. somehow, the pipe i was using wasnt letting air into the large engine? I checked the port that the air was going into, it was the air port, very top of the engine... All of the pumps are facing the right way (I could tell from inspecting in the editor, and the air filter test) it wasnt water (filtration system), the only possibility i could think of was a bug of sorts...

Do you guys have any solutions? everything had power, (filter test), and i tested during infinite elec just in case. Its not a stress issue either, the engine just isnt getting any airflow!

I have really no clue, and am hoping someone can find a fix soon....

also no, it wasnt taking in exaust- the engine hadnt even started, and the pump would have read it was intaking SOMETHING it just said " -- " for air in

Even the pipes that are DIRECTLY attatched to the port are not getting air!
it says

"On off TRUE"
"Electric 1.00"
"Air In 0.00 L/S"
Air Out -00 L/S

ArGHHHHHH

New Suspect- Exaust... possible contamination of air supply, rerouting to new location...

I am so confused
