Sounds and Effects
Hello All,
I'm sure many of you are sick of some of the sound mechanics that are in the game. Like the engine volume is the same in the engine room and in the bridge, like it doesn't make any sense. The sound of weather etc. should reduce substantially when you go inside a building or a vehicle. When you go outside you should hear the howling off the wind and the crashing of the waves but when you go inside it should all be quieter. This will greatly increase the enjoyment and decrease the "annoyment" by far and make the game more cosy (lol). Im sure alot of people agree.

I, for one, lower the sound volume in the settings if it bothers me :)

Aside from that, i would like them to adjust 2 very particular, easily adjustable parts of the sound effects in game:

The immensely loud small props, and the quick ramp up of wind audio at around 60m altitude.

Creating locationally muffled audio is generally an expensive (processing wise) task and not something that's very simple to do. It's also probably not high on the priority list overall. It would overall be a good feature, but something like that will take an extended amount of time to make.

Yes i agree sounds should be muffled when inside enclosed areas.

Noise should decrease the further you walk away from it.

We also need a separate setting for engine volume so we can lower the engine sounds

Jet Engines are very loud and annoying after a while. Especially Jet Generator engines.

You're talking of a jet engine though. There is absolutely never it's not loud.

A simple band-aid fix to this might be just to reduce the sound ranges / have a more aggressive sound reduction with range of the engines. Unless you are standing next to the engine, you are probably in a different room and should not hear it as much as you do.

Hey, I actually wasn't just propellers on a boat but also, which is louder jets on the outside or inside? Tell me

Jets are way too loud when they are far away imo.
I once had a jet generator running at 10 rps in the hangar and it was still loud a the end of the runway.

Even if sound muffling is too complicated for this game they could at least make sounds fade a lot faster. I can hear an idling boat's engine from across an island. Going from the engine room to the bridge on the biggest vessel you can currently build makes almost no difference to the sound volume. I wish they'd just make it fade out more quickly.

And yes, the jet engines are ear piercing compared to the other engine sounds. Sure, real life jets are crazy loud but I should be able to maintain a constant volume in the game without risking damage to my hearing.

Talking about sound effects : i made a set of 5 thunder sounds ro replace the abominable stock one, very atmospheric and immersive : can anyone guide me as to how to put it on the workshop?

why do the devs always say things like "oh that would take a lot of processing power." or "It would take a long time to do." and they come up with mediocre and lazy solutions like "just turn the volume down". games have had features like these for years now and for some reason in "2021" we can't do that anymore??? also the ocean foam is HORRIBLE. It clips through walls, and the decals overlap each other making it look buggy and annoying.
listen to me. STOP ADDING NEW FEATURES, AND IMPROVE THE ONES ALREADY IN THE GAME

We already know when a room is enclosed because it becomes watertight.
