Frame rate drops

Hi, while playing Stormworks, high have high frame rates drops. I can run Gmod with super laggy mods perfectly fine, and play TF2 without any lag, so I'm wondering why I cant play Stormworks. I turned down all the shadows and ocean foam and all that stuff, and yet it still is laggy af. Help please!

Large models seem to slow the game down enormously. It does prevent me from using any sizeable boats etc at all because I hate lag with a vengeance. Putting in a large tanker for example is a slide show for me.

Are there any plans to speed up the game by optimising it a bit? I remember this put me off the game when I played it a year ago when it was free.
