Stormworks: Build and Rescue

Starting out, how the hell do I build a functioning boat?
Not like how do I build the physical shape, but how do I get it working? Engine and propeller, ok.... how do I connect them? Videos say to use pipes to transfer power from engine to propeller... ok... where are the pipes? They are literally not on my list of available parts.

So I give creative a try... how do I get wheels to move? Motor to wheels... ok... where are motors? Literally not on the list of parts. Batteries for power storage? Literally not on the list...

What am I missing?

Are you perhaps on non-advanced mode? Because it seems like that's the issue

I guess that is the case... is that required to build things that actually work? If not, then how do I make things actually work? I am just trying to figure out how to play, and there doesnt seem to be any direction at all on how to build things.

The difference is that in advanced mode you need pipes, electricity. All that sort of stuff like in reality. In non-advanced you can just hook up a few giant propellers to some turbine engines with no problem.
Also, in non-advanced there's the power logic which just means that a propeller or wheel can be hooked up to an engine via logic instead of a pipe.

Hello.

My experience with the basic (non-advanced) building mode is quite limited. My understanding, however, is that in advanced mode, pipes have to be physically placed on the build to route power, exhaust, air, and coolant. In basic mode, pipes are replaced by node connections; basically, you connect the engine power-out to the propeller power-in using the same linking mechanic as with connecting electricity.

On the left side of the screen, there should be multiple tabs. One of them is for electricity. There should be other tabs that let you connect power, air, exhaust, and coolant. These tabs are disabled in advanced mode, and pipes are disabled in basic mode.

Hope this helps.

If you don't have pipes available, you're not in advanced mode, and most guides will be geared toward advanced mode. I know others have said this, but i'm just reiterating to confirm it!

In basic mode engines are extremely simplistic and just provide a set amount of power, which can be connected to any power consumer (wheels, props, and so on) through the logic links, there's an engine tab/overlay available in the same place where you connect controls.

My personal recommendation is trying things out in basic mode for a little while, enough for you to get a grasp of what you're doing in the editor and out and about, then changing to advanced mode, as it offers far more than the basic mode does.

If you have any specific questions, i'll keep an eye on this thread, just ask away and i'll answer to the best of my ability! :)

My issue right now is I cant find any way to connect wheels to the engine. They have no connecting points that connect to any of the engine points. Wheels only have breaks, variable breaks, and steering... so what do I connect and where do I connect it?

Edit: Never mind, I just straight up did not see the left side options...
