Hooking up multiple advanced engines
Has any one been able to hook up multiple engines together...the reason I ask is because I want 4 engines to go to 2 propellers and 4 of them to go to 2 generators for a total of 8 but I have a problem doing this because either they all spin up even though you only start one engine or they just cut out when you engage the clutch....I want it set up so that each propeller has 2 engines each without cut out. Any ideas on how to go about this or is there a tutorial or guide to help me accomplish this?

Use clutches to seperate each engine until they are started?? And you are stalling your engines because either A> you are being too aggressive with the clutch and then engines haven't enough power due to a high load / incorrect gear ratio, or B> just change your gear ratio to allow a rough clutch ON/OFF and then change gears as the rps's rise?

I could try approaching it a different way where I use a lower gear....last time that I did it I had 4 engines hooked up before I was going to add a generator so maybe just having less engines with a lower gear ratio on the gearbox could work

Well... I just connect everything toguether and it works, if I have 4 engines connected all through the same piping, they'll all have pretty much the exact same rpms and temps (I usually do cooling per engine though), no real complicated stuff necessary, I barely ever use clucthes to be honest.

Hmm intresting I will try this

be aware that if you build in "mirror" mode that if you connect an eninge from each side of the ship, then they will "work against" each other ;-)

So if your engine will not run at all, then maybe try to make 1 engine work alone just to check its working, and then connect engine 2 and see if that work ect ect...

Intresting...I did know that if I mirrored the engines that the connections flipped but didn't know that could work against each other....thanks for the tip

Just to be extra clear when I say connected through the same piping I mean for power transfer and fuel.

Air intakes, exhausts and cooling(this one I had mentioned already) I do per engine.

Though I'm pretty sure that having an unified exhaust piping should be ok, not sure about air intake though.

..

That's not true I don't think... I use mirror building all the time for making dual+ engine setups and it works as intended, i just tested this in a dual engine boat actually, disconnected 1 engine, speed went down, reconnected, speed went up

Ok I just hooked them all up and they do add power as a sting of engines because after i start one both engine read a RPS but they both don't consume fuel or go up in tempature
