Why don't boats get up on plane?
This should be a feature if it isn't already planned... When a boat reaches plane it has an easier time to retain speed because less is in the water - typically very little plus the engine ( also we need outboard motors ) - but they're always the same amount in the water it seems...

That depends on how you build your boat.

I'd start by making sure your propellers are slightly below the center of mass of the boat. That way they'll push the bow up a bit. You can also use a fin rudder mounted horizontally to adjust trim.

Between that and using a flat bottom it seems to simulate being on the step. It's not the same as in real life but those things will allow you to find the sweet spot for speed.

I used 2 sharp angle pontoons on either side and 3 blocks flat after angling up and back down before them and it is much faster than the default boat, even with the same number of engines, etc...

I tried building down and added motors forward and backward - even the trim rudders I added don't make a difference then - it just wants to fly...

I want to redesign it, but building in this game is too time intensive - the boat I built took 10 minutes which is near my limit for sitting at a time with arms extended...

I'd probably try a thriller design next - 2 pontoons with the motors, trim tabs on the side, etc.. and a lot of power and quite long. as long as the first space will allow and almost as wide...

So you do coding and have over 1500 games, yet you can't sit at a computer for more than 10 minutes?

I have a broken neck, back and severe nerve damage from a car accident May 7, 2011. Although one doctor seems to think this all happened at the college... strange..

I have a ton of games, a lot of them were purchased for trading cards and using Archi Steam Farm or whatever it is called as the cost of the cards is more than the games.

#1 mass to pro balance
pro at or below center of mass

#2 use rudder not fins to avoid flight.

made a boat that can easily stand on its tail and do tricks and even back flips but also very stable and high speed at proper angle

OR

use pivot between pro and motor to adjust prop angle

I use fins to adjust the angle in the water - these types of fins are on real boats, although instead of the side, they are typically on the back to push water coming out of the rear of the boat up / down on either side to adjust roll. Mine adjust roll and pitch while the rudder handles yaw.

Build the bottom of your hull with the small wing tips. I made a race boat with the trick and it is stupid fast.
