Fuel pumping
So is there no need to physically pump fuel down a pipeline to an engine? That’s awfully simplistic if that’s true.

Engines have biult-in pumps?

you do if the fuel tank is lower than the engine

No, you don't
You do not have to use pumps at all for the new advanced engines.

By experimenting with pressure sensors and pumps I have found that when using a pump you can increase the fuel pressure in the line running to the engine. Wonder if you could create some kind of forced induction with a pump on the air line as well lol.

Tried it out, but the pumps don't work right, pressure stays negative, and raising the tanks to get positive pressure doesn't increase max rpm.... thought i could turbocharge the engine ^^

Edit : since update, engine needs positive fuel pressure to run it seems, get your pumps running guys.

Is it possible to build a fluid tank like we did before for ballast tanks or for firefighting but fill it with diesel?? My old ships are way too big compared to the new tanks. I don't want to add 50 Fluid tanks large aka Large fluid tanks. Any tips and if it is not possible, can I connect several of the said new tanks?? Thanks

You can build a fuel tank as a "sealed" compartment, put a fluid generator in there, set to diesel. These will need a fuel pump, but as far as I can tell only to get the engine started. If you run a T off before and after, around the pump, once the engine is running the pump can shut down.

I have the last two days spend many houres trying to make an engine work inside my medium ship. The engine is located about 10xblocks below the water line.
-Long story short it dident work for a long time not even with pipes streight up and onto the deck.
to make the story short the engine first started working once i used fluid pump's.
So i connected on pump for each fuel/excaust/air/cooling in/out with a pump, and after I did this the engine worked instant.

I did by the way build a very simple engine setup on the deck of the ship above water level, and the engine did not require any pumps at all to work since the build in pumps inside the engine was strong enough to do the job..

It seem that the game mechanics is that if you are above sea level the engine are easy to setup and dont require extra help.
if you are below the water line ( maybe more than 5x blocks ) then you need pipes to above the water AND fluid pumps.

Well at least it worked for me this way.

Only problem i have now is that i barely can generate enough electricity to recharge the battery even with the usage of a gearbox and clutch ect ect.. anyway maybe i figure something out later ;-)
By the way it would be nice if we could see how much electricity 1 single part uses so we could calculate where to save electricity or how much our geneators need to make at peak perfomance ;-)
Thanks for your input, both Hotwire and Delle. It seems I have my work cut out for me because I rebuilding my tug and the the hull on its shortest height is 29 blocks high. I'll try to use pumps and create a fuel tank with the fluid generator. I enjoy this challenges and your help is most welcomed. Cheers.

Manage to do it. I tried to do without pumps because previously I had spend a ton of time doing the same on a small fast boat and failed while using pumps so I decided to goo without pumps and I would go from there but it worked the first attempt.... Thanks again for your help!
I do have the battery drain issue. Can't seem to fix it.

I got the diesel engine under sea level and pump everyting with 100% power. I can't even crank the engin up. It always tells me that it's lacking fuel. I installed a pressure meter after the pump and the presure never changes no matter the pump is on or not.

This ship has the engine below the water line without fuel flow issues. Maybe it has to do with a valve being in the fuel line?
