When you just hear the starter engine, then it could be one of your pipes are not connected or connect wrong.. check all pipes.
Check your engine get air from above..
check you engine have the excaust pipe outside the ship.
check fuel line.
try to possition your fuel tank higher than your engine.
If the engine is below the water line, then you need a pump to pump in air/excaust/fuel
On a small starter ship its typical not nessesary, but if you have a medium/large ship where your engine is example 10 boxes below water then you need a pump to pump air down to the engine, and a pumpt to pump out excaust, and a fuel pump, and the cooland water in and out of your engine.
I had this wrong setup: batteries -> breaker -> lots of dials and buttons + engine
for some reason even with a large battery that still didnt give the engine enough power
when i drew an electricity line straight from the (large) battery to the engine, it started
Finally, because i spent a few hours trying to figure out why my engine (below water line) wasnt starting. (with a total of 6 pumps pumping in air, coolant and fuel giving pressures around 15 the engine still wouldnt go on. Even made pumps for pumping cooling out and exhaust out and it STILL didnt work.. then it hit me..)
I also tried using infinite fuel and electricity but still it wont start
when I connect the engine to buttons without a seat it works. this problem happened to me quite a lot of times
