Engine not starting
I have my engine hooked up with a throttle, ignition, power, and it has all things as green but when I try to ignite it it just sputters out

If you bound the throttle to the WS keys axis, then you need to push W to throttle up otherwise the throttle is zero and the engine will die/never start. I have not yet learned how to keep the engine running like this myself

To start and engine in the game it require example 0.20 power, so maybe add more power while you start.

When you just hear the starter engine, then it could be one of your pipes are not connected or connect wrong.. check all pipes.
Check your engine get air from above..
check you engine have the excaust pipe outside the ship.
check fuel line.

try to possition your fuel tank higher than your engine.

If the engine is below the water line, then you need a pump to pump in air/excaust/fuel
On a small starter ship its typical not nessesary, but if you have a medium/large ship where your engine is example 10 boxes below water then you need a pump to pump air down to the engine, and a pumpt to pump out excaust, and a fuel pump, and the cooland water in and out of your engine.

I had pumps but it still did not work

electricity might be a problem

I had this wrong setup: batteries -> breaker -> lots of dials and buttons + engine

for some reason even with a large battery that still didnt give the engine enough power

when i drew an electricity line straight from the (large) battery to the engine, it started

Finally, because i spent a few hours trying to figure out why my engine (below water line) wasnt starting. (with a total of 6 pumps pumping in air, coolant and fuel giving pressures around 15 the engine still wouldnt go on. Even made pumps for pumping cooling out and exhaust out and it STILL didnt work.. then it hit me..)
Give it a little throttle. If that doesnt work look for spawn your ship and look a the engine to see what might be missing or whatnot.

I tried increasing the power and it gave a diferetn sound but still did not work

everything is pumped in or out with pumps and all 5 things on the engine are green
5002Leumas Oct 11, 2018 @ 2:57pm
Turns out that did fix it

The problem was the power

mine is a modular engine but still it doesnt work I added pumps and did electricity and all that but it still doesnt work
I also tried using infinite fuel and electricity but still it wont start

the moment I added a seat to control my vehicle with the modular engine it doesnt start
when I connect the engine to buttons without a seat it works. this problem happened to me quite a lot of times

Make sure the seat button mode is set to what you tested it when it worked (push or toggle) and the axis too (reset or sticky).

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
