Possible Joystick support in the future?
I was just wondering if joystick support is planned in the future. I know it would especially be nice for people like me who use joysticks in almost all of their flying games. Awesome game btw and I look forward to the updates!

I also strongly support this. Love the game so far.

There is partial joystick support already although we're planning on improving it in the future. If you want to try out the current support though, pressing start on a connected gamepad will enable its input. We only have vehicle controls mapped at the moment so you'll have to play the rest of the game with the keyboard and mouse. We've only tested it with xbox 360 controllers so unfortunately I can't comment on how well it will work with flight yokes and pedals.

Thanks for the tip. I tried my Xbox 360 controller and it works quiet well with flying a helicopter. I also tried to get my saitek x52 to work but it didn't work very well. Some buttons worked but it was a bit messy.

Really needs a standardised set of controls for the game - key mapping for gear, doors, flaps, torque etc there doesnt seem to be much standardisation at the moment seems every vehicle is different. And the plane/heicopter controls seem to vary between what keys are used for thrust, up/down, yaw etc The most used controls should be up/down and turn left/right. But it seems to be yaw that is mapped to the a/d keys a lot and everyone who flies knows yaw is the least important thing in a plane.

We can't really control how players wire up their vehicles so getting a standardised control set is difficult. However, if you use the select tool on a pilot seat and type names for the outputs, the keyboard controls will show up with custom names in the corner of the screen when you sit in the seat. We added that so that it would be easier for creators to convey how their vehicles are operated and hopefully make them more accessible. This feature is somewhat hidden/isn't very obvious at the moment, but we'll look into improving it in the future

how do you use a thrustmaster T16000 on this, there is not start button, so I am trying to figure out if I can or not.
Mouse and Joystick support would be awesome

I think many won't play much without joystick support for the planes and helos its pretty much essential. I found the planes all pretty uncontrollable

This thread is originally from more than a year ago, they've since implemented better controller support according to these patch notes[stormworks.gamepedia.com]. I was just about to start digging out my HOTAS setup to see how well I can fly the helicopter I've been designing, so I'm excited to try it out!

Ya I have been using my T16000 for flying, its great for flying Helis to rescue and put out fire, makes it real easy to control.

Can you use Xbox controllers in this game?
Johannes Mar 29, 2019 @ 3:51am
You can use joystick, H.O.T.A.S. and controllers in this game. You have to fix the settings and it may vary for each user/device. Press as said abowe, J to enable it. You can also trim using Alt and the keymapping for the controlls to trim.
