Yes now you tell me!!! I went out in a storm to collect three oil rig inspectors, lost two overboard on the way back, capsized the boat and ended up stuck on top of it lol with them in the sea around me.
But this takes me to a suggestion for the game - the best thing about Kerbal was rescuing lost Kerbals.
So - it would be amazing if you could have those people overboard stay there and have to be rescued next mission? And if you could perahps have an assist in getting back to your island after capsizing you could then perhaps go back anbd rescue them using winch and lift up your boat using a magnet or something?
Of course you would have to be able to find the people again - that might require smoke or a dingy or a marker on the map. Although I suppose you could use a pin for the map maybe to mark their position?
That could be really good - if you can create system when the player is making his own fun that is a fantastic game.
Like I said the best fun I had in Kerbal was playing in sandbox mode where you can build anything, having Kerbals stranded without fuel heading towards the Sun (its very easy to do) and then haivng to mount a rescue for them (which was really difficult). That kept me going for hundreds of hours and Kerbal remains the most played game on Steam I have to this day.
So if the devs could somehow make stranded citizens etc permanent or last for a few days perhaps allow them a dingy or whatever and you could then mount your own rescues of failed missions that could really make this game come alive. I assume when saying this that the people from the previous mission disappear once a new mision is started at the moment - I havent checked it but its most likely they do. How long do they last in the game if you dont start another mission I wonder?
Presently the only thing that makes it diffiuclt to be able to do this is not being able to get back to your base again to make a rescue vehicle. If you could do that it would be great fun trying tos ave all your lost people in the water using searchlights and winches etc.
But I guess also to enable this you might have to be able to set a helicopter on 'auto hover' so you could go down on a winch into the water, rescue a person and get winched back up again whilst your helicopter hovers by itself somehow??
