So, how does Trim work anyway?
Just got the game and once I learned how to set boat throttle to sticky so I don't have to hold a button down for long distances, I noticed a trim box for every control axis possible. What exactly is it for?

I use it for cruise control. And use arrow keys for trim as I have set up my ship to be trimmed

Are the values -1 to 1 and every decimal in between?

Trim is intended for helicopters and planes. If you have a helicopter that drifts slightly up or down when hovering, you can add trim to balance that out without having to keep tapping up/down to keep steady. Likewise if you have a plane that you find you need to keep tilting the nose down to maintain a constant altitude, you can apply trim so that the nose is always tilted slightly down without extra input.

But yes, it can also be used for cruise control, although the preferred way is to set the control mode on your pilot seat to "sticky" instead of "reset".

I can work with sticky. Killing the power on my boat keeps it from moving. Need to figure out how to set a push button to zero out the speed.

"Numerical Junction" logic should do the trick I'd say
On signal it changes the supplied number (throttle in this case) from one of it's output to the other, while the other is outputting 0

I guess, mathematically the "Multiply" logic should work as well if you have throttle on one input , and the button on the other. In this case the button would have to be active for it to work as you'd then multiply the throttle value by 1, while multiplying it with 0 (giving 0 output) when the button is off.

Hold "alt" button to open the trim menu when your on the driver's.
You can also adjust trim by selecting the seat using the selector tool when in the workshop mode
