I often play MP with my brother and we are in the same house using the same network, just make sure you port forward with the correct public IP adress (you can search for it online) and make sure you are forwarding the correct port (it tells you which one in game).

(you can type ipconfig into a command prompt to get your internal IP on all versions of Windows if you have an earlier version)
You can see your internal IP by pressing winkey+r typing in "cmd" without quotes and hitting enter. Then simply type in "ipconfig" to the command prompt that appears.
Going to google and asking for your IP does not give you your internal IP.
If like you say this is still available please point me to where in the client you connect directly to an IP Address?
Unless you mean you're out in the countryside with friends and have a LAN setup or something, as that's a communication issue between us then. It should function just fine. Just remember that internal IPs always start with 192.168. so if you try something else than that, you're always off the mark.
That is, barring you have some aggressive software firewall or weird router setting preventing this.
You are incorrect regarding internal IP's also there is 3 ip private ranges 10.0.0.0/8, 172.16.0.0/12 and 192.168.0.0/16. Before you answer questions please do the research and do not give out false information to people. (there is a 4th but I will not get into that specific as its a special use subnet)
To be vividly clear it is a private network (local lan whatever you want to call it). There is no internet access at the cottage where we plan to play. We would like to play together, however, in stormworks I cannot find an option to do that without the internet. It appears that stormworks uses the steam api to locate games and there is no way to connect directly to a game server.
In my previous message I said, please point me to where I would connect to a direct IP using stormworks you seem to be starting to catch on to my initial question however still have been unable to provide that information. So to my question of the developer is this even an option still.
