Devs....Anyone.... Why even bother using diesel engines?
I mean dont get me wrong i love the immersion of using those big engines and the sound they make even lol but i have noticed so far im playing career hardcore) and im early in...but seems to me i can build a much faster and efficent engine form electric then diesel for example:

2 Small diesel Engines 1 gearbox facing towards for speed = 9.5 mps plus fuel
i put down my electric engines with 3 gearboxes and i get 20mps no fuel usage and enough torgue to fly to the moon...

is there a reason to use diesels later? what makes them better if they are better? why would we use them? im j ust curious and would like to hear what everyone else has to say about it.

just seems a little unrealistic doesnt it?

Electric uses ALOT of electricity so it's uneficent to use it and tyring to make ifinite energy is neither realistic + diesel can go as fast as electric if you know how to use gearboxes...

thanks for your reply ..... however i have to make some points and hopefully have them discussed... but as it is right now... my setup...i dont ever run out of battery power....ever...so i can maintain 20mps easily.... im only in early career so i havent experienced all the diff engine types yet so i was hoping to hear more about this topic. In my early career i mean ....right now.... my electric engine setup.... Infinite power... 20mps and not a care in the world. However i do wish i never accidentally made this thing like this but there it is lol... maybe the electric stuff needs a nurf or something

hopefully ppl have a little more input on this topic ...seems a little game breaking in some regards.

What nonsense is this? Batteries run flat FAST. Even a large one is empty in about 1 min.

A good diesel boat can have a range of 1000km+, without any bother. An electric boat is going to struggle to do 10km, even with dozens of large batteries.

If you don't run out of battery power, "ever", then congrats! you found a bug!

Or you are only taking your creations on short test runs and not actually doing any missions.
Midnyte May 22, 2019 @ 12:33pm
well pete lol this my friend is not nonsense... i got 4 medium batteries that never ever run out of power my friend ...just gotta figure out how ot set them up is all.

i dunn o if its a bug or if it needs a nerf but with my current setup i've been driving for well over 2 hours and have not needed to slow down or stop...pure electric which is why im posting this as it seems way to OP and just stupid and negates the need for diesel

i can tell you now that i have travelled welllllllllllllllllllllllll over 1000KM with no bother to me what so ever im hoping that is a bug and gets adjusted otherwise ...its kinda game breaking... i managed to make a loop that just circulates power... my batteries NEVER EVER drain
Pete May 22, 2019 @ 12:35pm
Yeah, thats a bug. 4 medium batteries ought to get you about a kilometre or so.

What have you done with them?
Midnyte May 22, 2019 @ 12:41pm
its not just medium batteries...i can do this with any battery and any number of them....i dont tihnk its a bug more so an oversight by the devs. its the setup i have goin on ..i just got my batteries piped with 3 gearboxes with electric motors and generators. all i need is enough power to start out with after that.... i made nuclear powered small rescue vessel lol

some of this electric generators and motors need a nerf of some kind i think... i dont even have an engine in my ship
werolf May 22, 2019 @ 12:47pm
Agreed. 1 big generator and 2 medium electric motors with 3 gearbox can supply 2 medium electric motors infinity. That's must be fixed.
Pete May 22, 2019 @ 12:47pm
You have batteries, turning motors, turning generators, which charge the batteries?

Yeah, thats called a perpetual motion machine of the first kind. Issac Newton wants a word with the devs.
Midnyte May 22, 2019 @ 2:31pm
yep thats exactly it... i hope they fix it cause really its kinda stupid if it nullifies the need for diesel engines :/ but as someone stateed above yeah thats what i got goin on and im tihnking bout just starting over my career and not ever building it again as it just ruins the immersion you know?
Midnyte May 22, 2019 @ 2:32pm
and i dont even have the big stuff i only have the medium

The E is the one that should have been elongated not the L. Sorry. I just had to.
