I'm trying to experiment with the gernade launcher, but that can only get me to the left wall, but I have no momentum to cross the gap.
I'm going to bed this challenge is too much.
----- I know most if not all the ways to 'glitch / break' the jumping mechanics, my only problem is getting the timing down for actually doing them. 1 frame too early or 1 frame too late and I just can't seem to get most to work.
What works best for me is: Running then jumping onto the wall and WITHOUT LETTING GO OF RUN jump off of it within a second of so of touching it.
Thing is.. if you're too slow, it doesn't work.. and sometimes, if you're too fast, it doesn't work. To be frank, I think this mechanic could've used some more testing/tweaking.
The key in my opinion is to jump from the wall as soon as you touch it. Not "within a second", more like within a couple of frames, so it is difficult.
Also keep in mind that it if you do it properly where this is first needed in the test of skillness, it is then easier to keep pressing left and land on the opposite wall instead of change direction in the middle of the jump, as shown in the video.
However, the next jumps after that are quite more difficult, as you need to do 3 jumps in row without losing momentum. I found that once I know how it works, it was just a matter of trying.
Note that you should keep the run button (shift on keyboard) pressed all the time.
I have uninstalled the game yesterday, but you can even see this in the video in this thread. Check it from 7:57. In the first try from this second you can see the jump was done a bit after hitting the wall and it didn't work. The second, successful try, was done exactly at the moment hitting the wall. The first few tries in the next section, on the video, are also done too late, not too early.
Anyway, I don't really want to argue about it, I just hope this will help others who have difficulty in this part.
And by the way, a hint for everyone doing the trials - make sure you turn off the upgrade that increases damage from enemies. I spent a lot of time trying to finish the trials before I realized I have that turned on. After I turned it off I finishing in the first try, thanks to the practice :p.
The trick is not to focus on timing your second button press with hitting the wall, as counterintuitive as it is. I tried that for the longest time and couldn't figure out why it was so inconsistent - I'd go from getting it right five times in a row to not being able to pull off a single jump for 10 minutes.
What actually determines whether you execute a wall jump is the timing of the second button press in relation to the initial jump - even if you hit the wall and little later or a little earlier, so long as your timing between the two is consistent, you'll high jump. This is where folk giving advice that you need to press the button before you land on the wall are seeing success. It's closer to a double-tap of the jump button than it is to a second jump.
My advice to anyone struggling is to start timing your jumps with a very rapid double press of the jump button, then slowly increase the time between the presses until you see some success. The sweet spot is pretty similar to how fast you'd perform a double mouse click to open a program.
Once you get the initial double jump, you seem to stay in some sort of combo mode and the timing becomes MUCH more forgiving, allowing you to pinball between the walls for the trial.
This is the one, guys. Got it instantly after reading this.
I made it up there but it is still locked. I have no idea what to do now.
