"The Lava has not been your friend"

I've just cleared an absolutely agonising room full of switches. Now, there's a bandana in a room at the end, I can't get to it because there's a sign that says "The lava has not been your friend" Does this mean I have to clear the room without pressing a single switch? If so, I give up on 100% completion and wish the creator of this game an awful day... with the losing of teeth. This room was horrifying.

Edit: The creator can buy back my love by adding hats.

Edit: I've since finished the cave. using the Jetpack made it slightly less excruciating.

I know this is an old thread but just in case someone else has a similar problem:
You have to exit the mine completely, go back in and then do it without using any switches or hitting any buttons.

Not only did I exit the mine completely, then go back in with a fresh untouched challenge area/mine - I actually shut the game down a few times and then restarted the program.
I got so good at this that I could do this challenge three times in a row without touching anything that your not supposed to touch.

Just to be sure I reset, left the game, came back in, left the mine to the portal/door entrance, came back in - then flawlessly finished the challenge two or three times.

If you mean actually go back to the surface, then come back down then I will admit that I did not do that. I uninstalled! I just dont have the desire to re-install for such a poorly designed challenge/game.

No, you don't have to go back to the surface. Leaving the "floor is lava" mine through the entrance and going back in is enough. I just did that a few days ago after failing several times. No idea why it didn't work for you. Either a bug or you did hit something (not sure if you are allowed to use the levers even without touching a button).

This room was an absolutely terrible idea. Locking collectible behind such tedious, annoying and skill-focused challenge? At least with all tools and upgrades, it becomes manageable. But still, bad idea.

If you think this room was a bad idea, you don't want to find out the reward for collecting 42 artifacts. it's a Bonus Dungeon from Hell that makes the rest of he game look trivial

Dunno about you, but doing it with just the basic hook shot is easy. Try the ultimate trial and getting the "the impossible dream" achievement :)

to anyone still having trouble with this, even with the fully upgraded jetpack: i was able to pull it off by switching to the arrow buttons instead of the analogue stick when using the hookshot. still tricky, but easier to make precise shots that way.

It was easy enough with the grapple, it took me no more than 10 attempts.. but with the jetpack should be done at the first!

10 attempts is way more than I was ready to do.
I've finished the game pretty soon after the post above then I completely forgot about that room.
I was still registered on this discussion though, but it's now fixed.

floor is lava, more like floor is bull C#@p. absolutely the most aggravating and worst part of the game so far.
