It needs more time to develop, I wuld more recommend a DS4.
You might be able to do the basics, but I could never get rumble working
Why do you want to torture yourself?
If you have a switch pro controller sure you have a switch: buy it there.
If you want to play it on pc use a cheap 360/One controller and done.
You surely chose the most uncomfy option, nintendo controllers (sadly) always had an hard time on pc.
The Switch pro Controller connects directly via Bluetooth, and Steam recognizes it as a xInput Controller
Also, I don't know if its the case where you live, but SWD2 is like 30$ on Switch here
You're thinking of the Wii U Pro Controller, Switch can connect directly by Bluetooth
20€ here, price it's pair with steam... in fact I got it on the switch.
I still used wiinupro because it is actually designed for switch controlllers. As far as I am aware there are no other programs for switch controllers at present. Otherwise it acts as an acient directinput controller and good luck getting that working.
It doesn't work very well, trust me. Development was (temporarily) abandoned at 0.9 with little usage instructions.
Not only does the Switch controller work with it, but it recognizes it AS a Switch Controller so it shows Switch buttons on the interface and everything!
That tells me Switch to Windows porting for various devs would be an easy task
