Playstation 3 controller malfunctioning
When Steam Input is enabled, the game registers crazy inputs from my PS3 controller, like rapidly mashing down on the D-pad in menus, and spamming R2 attacks in-game. When Steam Input is disabled, the game no longer recognizes my controller at all.

This issue is particular to Dark Souls: Remastered. The controller works without issue in Dark Souls 3 and Elden Ring.

I've also had similar issues with DS:R and this controller while trying to play on my previous PC:

I'm not even sure how I solved them back then; the problem just mysteriously fixed itself. Now, on a new computer, with a different OS (Win10 vs. Win7), the controller is going haywire again.

I've tried tweaking my controller settings and resetting them to default. I've tried both Ctrl+Alt+Del and Ctrl+Alt+Esc in-game, to no effect.

So, anyone know what might be causing this and how to fix it?

Solved, apparently. The game thought I was constantly holding down R2 for some reason. Going in to Steam's controller settings and unbinding then rebinding the right trigger mysteriously fixed it.

It's probably worth upgrading to the ps5 controller. Never used the ps3 on pc but used the ps4 a lot.

Wouldn't be a bad idea to get a new controller, at this point. This one is very old and worn, especially its left analog stick. Still, it works. :cleandino:
