Losing 2K souls will hurt, but soon enough it isn't even worth getting upset about

scrapping entire runs. realizing actually. no. this is all bs. realizing no. all this false virtue. at the end of the day it is just a gaslight video game system and there will be no commensurarte system of reward awaiting you on the other side. the only thing to do is free yourself of it. shatter the shackle and in fact maybe just fkn cheese it anyhow come to think of it. OMG
There is no single path to power.
Everyone has different preferred playstyles and if they jell well with how you play, they can give you a good advantage.
My personal "path to power" is a Paladin with Sunbro Miracles and divine weapons.
Started as Knight, got just enough strength to buy the Bastard Sword off of Andre (not required, I just always prefer that blade for whatever reason), cheese past the Hellkite Wyvern to get the Lightning warrior of Sunlight spells, have a light crossbow in the extra offhand slot (never know when a quick bolt might prove useful!) And Talisman in the other main hand slot. Make sure you have decent healing spells and pump points into faith. I also have a firm grip on the Kite Shield parry timing, so I Riposte a lot as well.
This is how I conquer DS1 so far. I've gotten my first major boss kill of the second half, and just figuring out what my second will be. Also detouring into the DLC areas for some extra loot.
