Which they will never fess up to
Lets say you didnt play any Souls Game before, didnt watch a lot of videos, or read up on the fight beforehand.
You are on a average level with average equipment, didnt understand how magic works yet, and barely made it through the lower undead burg, being backstabbed by a dozen assassins.
You dont know what you are up to, you go through the fog wall, only for this big demon guy rushing at you with 2 Giant Swords before you can even react.
If by chance you manage to survive or dodge the initial attack, the dogs, whose presence you probably notice too late because you where focused on that big boss taking up all your attention, will corner and get you killed before you grasped the dimensions of the arena.
While you die, you maybe see the stairs in the back,
and then you start building up your winning strategy for the next tries.
And that is the beauty of Dark Souls. :-D
All subsequent runs will be a lot easier, and you will feel stupid in hindsight, but it is a definitive roadblock for any newcomers.
You'll die before you can even react. A lot. On the off chance the RNG finally lets you play the game, you'll dodge roll out of the way and find out he's actually pretty easy.
