Unless they build it similar to the Elden Ring Seamless Co-Op mod where playing with the mod plays separate from the official servers and on its own thing.

perma-banned for doing something that doesn't break the ToS? Hardly doubt it

Not having to re-summon after boss fights and such is a nice QoL feature, but there's really only a handful of areas in each Souls game that are solo only. Your buddy should probably learn to get through those parts on their own to build confidence, experience, map knowledge and so on.
