Look on the various platforms for summoning signs. Lautrec's is not obvious, as far as I recall. There are two platforms, and you need to check them both

If you're NG (our noob level) and you're human then summoning the NPCs can help.
If you are not human because of no more Humanities then this might suffice
The Gargoyle is slow to start, but upon re-entering after a death, that's gone.
Don't anticipate a slow setup.
Next, what type of build are you running; A mage, you need to highlight DPS. The lower level mage spells fire much faster, and can do a decent enough job on one Gargoyle. You must focus on #1 and rush him from 50% to death as quickly as possible - cause #2 drops in when #1 hits 50%

Be very careful and know exactly where you are. Dodging backwards to avoid their fire spells is an easy death if you fall off the roof. Trust me, I died there on at least two characters.
If you have fire protection use it; Dragon Shield for instance and a few normal shields have decent fire protection

If you summon a gamer then establishing the plan before the fog gate is a good idea, but two players will increase the HP and the Damage of each bad guy (all bad guys, throughout the entire game). If you get a tank or are one, the other can really hammer from mid-distance are hardly take any damage

Only attack with running attacks. Keep your distance, and only go for counters on their jump attack, it has the longest window for hits. If you cant kill the first one before the second shows up, start focusing on the one with the least health, with a preference for the fire breather if they are close to the same.
And get the Zweihander from the graves near Firelink. It is the best early game burst damage dealer, perfect for a fight where you only get 1 hit at time.

If you are already able to play unlocked, do so. It gives you more freedom of movement (same goes for the ultimate 2v1 bossfight later).

They're weak to fire, several sources of fire magic / weapons are available before the gargoyle fight.

You can cut the tail of the first one, this will stun it for a bit (and give you a weapon).

Some general tips:
- Watch your step, this is no joke, sometimes there are cliffs and/or simply not enough space to dodge an attack. Try to work on the spacing between your character and the boss (keep your distance).
- Don't be greedy for attacks! The result of such behavior can be shocking and even fatal. Of course, in some cases it is preferable, but in general, especially if you are having a hard time when fighting a boss, it is not a good idea.
- Learn the boss's moveset... Yes, people just rush forward these days! Not all of them, but some of them, hahaha. It might not be fun at first, but once you learn the boss's moveset, you'll be able to read their moves, incoming attacks, etc. like an open book!
- Patience... Yes, it is like learning, but open your mind... Keep calm...
- I've given this advice before, but this is top notch (my humble opinion) - do something else, but when you finally come back, you might get it on the first try! Don't stress.

Blacksmiths sells Titanite shards for 800 souls.

Make sure to upgrade your weapon to +5 from him.Grind if needed.

Good idea to kindle the parish bonefire to 10 Estus.

You picked up the firekeeper soul use the Parish elevator down to firelink and upgrade your Estus to+1(healing 300>400hp).

Dmg the first garyolye down to around 70%hp.

Apply the lighting resin(3 found from the residence key blocked door in the Undead burg.)
Two hand your weapon wait for full stamina and an opening and dps him down from 70% to 0%.

By the time second gargolye is online first is dead.


You can also summon Solarie which will make the fight much easier you can even throw firebombs at the gargolyes from the distance.
They are sold by the merchant from the Undead Burg.

Find the blacksmith and upgrade gear as much as you can.

when they spam fire attacks, do not be discouraged, its an opening. Circle around and come in, you can land a hit and get away clean.

Consider summoning also.

If you started Thief or have the master keys take the shortcut to Blighttown swaps. Farm the slugs for large shards to get an edge with your armor defenses. If you don't have the key try staying close to the boss with a 100% physical block shield, cutting its tail will give you time to attack it for a lot of dmg. If you for some reason have none of these and have the basement key take the ladder down towards the Capra Demon boss. Don't fight it just go through it and get to the undead merchant in the water way leading to Firelink. Buy poison arrows from her, as many as you can, make sure you are human and summon Solaire to be in front for you. Use the poison to help you bring them down shouldn't take too many arrows

If you do sen gate skip you won't have to fight the gargoyles. But then Frampt won't appear and you'll have to use Kaathe to set up Lordvessel. They really hate lightning damage. Gold pine resin and summoning solaire should make the fight pretty easy for a first timer.

If you have a summon, when the first gargoyle gets to about 60% hp run to the far end of the arena where the second one spawns. This will keep the two separated so you don't need to worry about overlapping move sets.
