Unpopular opinion: Bed of Chaos is a great fight
Every good Dark Souls boss just has his gimmick:

Asylum Demon teaches you that sometimes you have to grind to fight

Pinwheel teaches you, that sometimes you don't have to do anything to get sweet loot

The Gargoyles teach you to position yourself against multiple threats, and cutting tails

The Capra Demon teaches you to get poise

Artorias teaches you to not just stay in place

Super Londo Brothers teach you to git gut scrub

Bed of chaos teaches you how to aim with a bow and throw firebombs

Bed of Chaos is a massive lost opportunity. Could have been a great boss, if instead of bottomless pits (and a miserable runback), you just avoided ground AOE attacks and such, and had to navigate an increasingly more aggressive entity. Could even have ended with a 1-vs-1 against some kind of creature at the end (but doesn't have to).
As a unique obstacle boss, that could have been special.

Bed of Chaos...

In our opinion, it's more like learning to stay calm... ☃️❄️ even when there is chaos and storms raging around you! 🔥🌪️

Capra Demon...

You can definitely broaden your horizons by learning how to aim a bow/binoculars to deal with dogs via firebombs. 💣💥

Asylum Demon...

May exhibit a weakness for bleeding.

I think bed of chaos gets overhated because of how bad and rushed Lost Izalith is in general. If Fromsoft directed more time to flesh out the area then BoC would just be another gimmicky or forgettable fight to the masses.

Haters gonna hate. Gamers that have decided to hate are much like true believer missionaries; They are compelled to bring the truth of their hate to the savages in the hinterlands (us), even if said savages are intelligent, educated, and successful without such hate

There are a few bosses that are trouble. But, that is pretty much only on NG, and a few on NG+ where the unbalanced upgrade to + is the actual trap. It's a great trap, IMHO, because if you defeat Lord Gwyn, you're pumped. And if you don't wig out about the game not ending, then the urge to rush in and defeat all these bosses and mobs you've already dominated is very strong. Of course. You. Will. Die Because they have more health and do more damage than in NG. Like I said, a great trap.

To both answers - Lost Izalith is wonderful! The most unique area in the entire game...

It's like an abandoned temple that is very close to the center of the Earth! Far, far underground!

Any explorer (we mean a real explorer) - with a big, kind heart and an open mind. Ready to explore new depths, places and worlds - can only dream of such a journey!

In our opinion, this is a very strong point of this game.

Moreover (now, from the very beginning of current reply, we are talking seriously, at least we are trying to) there is always a challenge/some difficult situations here - this is also a strong point of this game.

It's always up to you, it's a question of perspective, how you see things, how you perceive them. :bonfire2::summer2019tortoise:

Good lord no. Not the Bed of Chaos. The Dragon God from Demon's Souls was 100x better. Yet the only problem with that boss was a common sense issue.

BOC sucks and the game jumpings are not that good. They could have at least made the last tree trunk wider so you can not just slip down easily.

Demon Souls Dragon God was an epic-looking boss but very poorly executed.
Still, it was much more consistent and better done if you understood the"stealth" part.

The other problem with BOC is that the runback time is very long and boring.

And there is a semi-RNG if he decides to do its firestorm spell.

However, we are at the current title - DARK SOULS™: REMASTERED.

Bed of Chaos (BOC) is actually more of a puzzle, but it's not obvious.

You got through it with firebombs, but that seems like more cheese and/or wasn't intended in the first place.

Instead, it's all about positioning your character correctly in relation to the boss, which is also dependent on timing. There are plenty safe places where the boss can't reach you.

We respect these ideas and these attempts to bring new aspects to the game - one of these aspects is platforming. Inside the boss room, there are at least two places where you need to perform a jump to reach the other side.

Another idea related to the boss is based on fact - the boss cannot move, instead he tries to attack with his hands, and in the second phase - with a chaos storm.

The result is a unique and memorable boss/fight. It's not for everyone (but of course there will always be those who enjoy the challenge and/or the core idea/concept), and it's certainly different from other bosses. However, that's a strength. :bonfire2::summer2019tortoise:
