I would advise to play the original PS3 version instead of the remake for a more dreamlike atmosphere if it is possible (PC emulation capabilities is a miracle). The remake experience is still good too but it is kinda diminished in comparison.
DS3 is arcade style combat. At least it is compared to when it came out.
When you beat Lord Gwyn you go immediately to NG+
More spoilage in case you don't care, but if you did, then two spoilers let you choose. Sort of
As in poof, you are back in the cell and getting the key dropped to you. NG+ is harder (initially) because it isn't balanced for the player but for the mobs. NG++ is somewhat unbalanced but by the end of any of them you should be kicking butt and taking names.
Interesting, didn’t expect Demon Souls is available on PC in any way. I don’t think similarity is main factor, just want to play souls games in order that don’t ruin experience.
Thx for advices for NG. Yep, I’ve already had to google that all other staff in DS1 must be done before going to Lord Gwyn. Also after missing some NPC and quests I was forced to search how to get into DLC. I suppose it usual things to search that kind of staff in Souls.
Btw, you are right. Those are the only pros of DS2.
Many people would suggest to skip DS2 altogether. Not like it is that bad, but it feels somewhat off, like a soulslike fanfiction game. You may play Lies of P or Lords of the Fallen instead as well.
I suggest Demon Souls and then DS3, if my personal opinion means anything at all.
All opinions matter, thank you
For some reason on third party platforms schooler key is much cheaper. Maybe I’l wait for steam sale on it then.
My friend told me to play Elden Ring right after Dark Souls Remastered, because in his opinion you'd have the best feel for Elden Rings gameplay at that point
My advice; try Salt and Sanctuary, it's like Dark Souls, but as a 2D Metroidvania
With strong PC can even do 4k 60fps.
Demon souls have many similarities with Dark souls 1.
For instance stamina and vitality are 100% the same values in Demon souls and Dark souls 1.
It has less content and some unique features related to white and black word events.
Demon souls have a very very complex weapon upgarding system so best to use wikidot.
Most Demon souls bossfights have certain rules which you need to figure out.
The original swamp map from 2009 the valley of defiliment.
Each souls game has its own swamp map.......
Dark souls 2 is also slower paced but uses a different engine than other souls game so it"feels" different.
It has many innovation most content(length, weapon, spell count) among the soul games but also the least polish.
Many Non DLC boss fight are a joke.
I maneged to kill many on my first try.
In both Demon souls and Dark souls 2 area mobs themselves are usually harder and the boss is easier.
And ganks are very common.
Both Dark souls 1,2 and Demon souls can be done in non Linear fashion.
Bloodborne,Dark souls 3 and Elden ring use the"faster paced combat"Unlike DES,DS1,DS2.
Faster paced combat also means much cheaper dodge cost and more reaction based.
Areas tend to be slightly easier but bosses harder.
Dark souls 3 is a love letter to Dark souls 1 and even many NPCs carry over from DS1.
Dark souls 3 is very linear.
Sekiro is very fast paced and its combat system is closer to recent Jedi games on very hard difficulty.
Unlike souls game it has much more focus on deflections and other defensive counter measures versus dodging.
It has a masterfully crafted combat system with barely any RPG elements.
+you can steath kill most enemies.
There are no summons, increasing stats(dmg, health) are primary done by killing main and sub bosses.
Many non combat game mechanics are similar to the souls series.
Eg.Bonfires,Estus flask, resting respawns basic foes etc.(called differently ofc).
I can easily recommend Sekiro.
If you have a Playstation 5 you can get Demon souls remake and or Bloodborne.
That said DESR is 95% the same game as the PS3 version but with much better quality of life, better looking attack animations(but same frame/timing data)and looks better then ER.
Be warned even on PS5 Bloodborne is only 30fps.....
Bought Salt and Sanctuary ✅, I like both Dark Souls and Metroidvania
actually i suggest you to unsubscribe from this discussion and stop reading it altogether, lest you get thoroughly spoiled on everything before you even decide what to play next. what the souls community loves the most is to feed their own digested souls experience to anyone willing to listen, exactly like Rick feeds Morty with the digested food in that one episode
do you really need to know what lies ahead instead of experiencing it yourself in the first place?
just play anything, they are all good games with their own ups and downs after all
Now compare that to DS3, where I have only beat it twice in my life. I can never finish it, because it's way too long, and boredom sets in. Longer is not better. It's a fine game, but it overstays its welcome, and so I'm never finishing it, never replaying it, etc.
Can't comment on Elden Ring, because it's on open world game, and I assume that means it is ridiculously long, which means it's going to have even worse problems than DS3.
