There's nothing to admit. Calling the kettle black is not a news flash to anyone. The game IS old compared to all those that came after it. The point of my post was to point out how well the game stands up even today...despite its age.
Your perceptions seem a tad 'off' on what it means to struggle with critique, as I've only offered my opinion on the game as I see it rather than as a response to one of your posts...and with very little given to any beloved-ness toward it.
Upon another look at your post that followed mine, you kinda sound like that guy, Lloyd, on Dumb and Dumber who says, "...so there is a CHANCE?!," after being rejected by the indifferent red-headed woman he was interested in. <shrugs>
I stopped playing FF games when they became more concerned with cutscene CGIs than gameplay mechanics; graphics are overrated, imo. Gameplay is everything.
Many of those whom responded do not have DSR as their fav game(mine's Valdis Story) and calling anyone a crybaby is definitely harassment...multiple people is more like trolling or inciting a flame war or whatever. Be careful.
They missed the mark on the Remaster. Should've been a remake with the extremely rushed second half of the game fully realised to its intended glory. Now that would be glorious.
Elden Ring's difficulty based on your reaction speed. Bloodborne was the 1st high paced game and turned out to be a massive succes so they went with it into DS3, Sekiro and ER.
Dark Souls difficulty is based more on your choice of reaction. It's slower, but its more strategic in my opinion. You see what's coming, what's in front of you, but at the same time you have much less i-frames, your attacks usually have longer startup animations, its more costly on stamina, so you cant go with a greatsword, do 10 swings and roll away like you easily can in ER.
What is outdated for me is defenitely the roll mechanic that is limited to few directions. The rest is ok. Of course there could be improvements and they did improve a lot in newer games - even small things such as quicker ladder climb, ability to use items on ladder, backstep attack directions, quicker response to run button and many more. But at its core DS1, DS3 and ER are very similiar.
Would I want DS1 remake? Depends:
If some company other than FromSoftware were to make it: NO. HELL NO. Demons Souls remake went so far away from original visual approach, atmosphere, music that it's much worse than ugly 30fps original for me. They turned it into korean mmo-lookalike and I dont want anything similiar happend to this game
If FromSoftware decided to do it on their own: Maybe? Honestly the only things I'd want for it would be fixed rolling directions and fixed backstabs.
ER has so many options that "full open world" makes twinking easier. The slow windup in DS1/2 causes "panic rolling", which was a punishment that got buffed in later soulslikes. Having more roll directions is just another "buff".
No remakes if it means changing those ^ mechanics. Less rolling stuff and slow windup makes it harder, git gud.
You shouldn't take it personally.
That's the thing; I don't.
Admittedly, I did attribute that to a point...still albeit with indifference, because in the expressed amusement in your direct response to me, you implied you were lumping me into that.
I don't take it personal though. That's often the norm on these forums, and that's not lost on me.
