I think this one is still better than its sequels. Pretty excited to a moonlight greatsword build this week like I am planning.
Is it perfect? Hell no. It was their second attempt at something in the IP, first attempt at making it an interconnected world, and as is well known, suffered from rushed development near the end of it's development cycle. They still had lessons to learn. Still do have lessons to learn, even with Elden Ring. But it is where the identity of the souls games really started to lock in. I far prefer DS3 over it. But I damn well acknowledge that if DS1 hadn't done as well as it did, there never would have been a DS3.
I do hope I get a chance at some point to play Elden Ring properly, although considering how enemies completely turn invisible in my play of it because it doesn't like my computer, I'll either have to get insanely godlike at souls games as to basically play blindfolded on what is a first playthrough, or get a new computer, it may be some time before I properly experience Elden Ring.
I played the original Dark Souls when it came out my friend.
I guess you must have hit your head and gotten amnesia or worse then because the reality is that Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, Dark Souls 2, Bloodborne, Dark Souls 3 and Elden Ring are 90% the exact same game. If anything they should remake Elden Ring to not be the same ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game all over again.
I fired this up for the first time last night after having played through Bloodborne, Elden Ring, Sekiro, Dark Souls 3, and Dark Souls 2...in that order (I know, I know).
I am actually blown away with how good it is. Sure, it feels a bit dated, but that was expected.
At any rate, I'm already hooked and can't wait to see it through like I did with all of its successors, and it's fascinating to see how well it stands up today...the OG that it truly is.
