Controller Problems

Anyone else having problems with getting your controller to work with the game? I have a gamesir controller that the game recognizes as a xbox controller but it wont let me use it at all? I have found that some games make you choose which you use at the opening game screen but I figured darksouls you could change on the fly. Am I wrong?

same here! was playing on the Rog Ally and controllers no longer work even when i used my xbox controller via bluetooth. hopefully a fix comes soon. it was working like a week ago.

Fix? Soon? From who? LMAO...

EDIT: sorry but reality check required. If it worked "like a week ago" then it is a your system problem, not a game problem. Look to an OS or driver update, or some other incompatibility, as the the culprit. And it appears your shift key is not working...

I was just wondering if there was others who were having this happen. If it was just me then I could just go through my system to figure it out. With the gamesir controller it would be simple fix. I'd just have figure out where the clash is, if there is one.

Fair enough. I don't use a controller but there are several threads with similar problems and solutions involving things like alt-tab in\out etc. but do not remember the exact "fix".

When I started PTDE on KBM long ago I had to unplug all my USB peripherals b\c of incompatibility. This 'remaster' (small 'r' on purpose) is a pretty poor excuse and has many such issues; previous owners should never have been required to pay for it, but off topic now... ¯\(°_o)/¯

I've already tried some fixes but my wired Xbox One Controller still doesn't work. The problem is also that I've selected the xinput controller in the settings but afterwards it always overrides this setting with mouse and keyboard. Anyone else having this problem?

Am sure you made edits, saved, and then set the config or settings file to 'Read Only'?

I meant the ingame settings, but the ini file is not in read only. I've also tried the devreorder solution from pcgamingwiki but it doesn't work

Then suggest make tyour edit in the .ini file, save, and set file preference to Read Only. It may just work.

Nvm, my controller works now since I pressed the Xbox Button once. But thank you for trying to help me.

You need to go into the setting to enable something called "enable support for generic controller" or something like that. Often controller aren't recognised because of it since that setting is disabled by default and for whatever reason your controller is considered "generic". Enable it and see if it helps.

Sometimes the game might detect both KB+M and controller but decide to favour KB+M thus showing prompts for keyboard controls. In this scenario both controls are still recognised so just pressing the buttons on controller once or twice should revert the on-screen button prompts back to controller schemes as the game knows that's where the input will be coming from.

I notice that this happens when I either accidentally hit keyboard or if I moved my mouse while playing. A failing mouse or bad mouse pad resulting in detected mouse movement when there's none can also be a culprit for this scenario.

Just to cover my bases, I did end up buying an xbox controller just to see if that was an issue. It was not.

I mean I have enabled Steam Input and Disabled it for XIput but I didn't see anything for Generic Controller. Unless its in-game you are talking about.

Edit: I found the Enable Generic Controller button on steam. Its enabled now, but it still didn't work

The Issue is its not detecting the controller really at all. Well if I hit the home button while at the start screen it'll go past it but that all. If i try to use any other buttons on the controller nothing happens. So I know that it is being detected at the least. But after that it just doesn't work. It is a good possibility that its a driver issue. I Could look into that. Which I will

I fixed it now. I installed an xbox controller driver. Though I am not certain if that is what fixed it or if the pc restart was.

Edit: It was the pc restart.
