Keep in in mind: for random coop you need to know about the matchmaking, especially the right weapon upgrade level. This system got added to DSR, the PTDE didn't have this restrictions.
When playing with password on, it works very well, no waiting times and searching for "nodes".

Assuming you want to coop with a friend and not randoms, this mod allows you to coop without restrictions, you will be able to do 100% of the game in coop (including areas that weren't meant to allow coop) and without needing humanities. It also allows you to invite and join games through your steam friends list.
It does however disable the regular online play, so you won't be able to summon randoms or do any kind of PvP.
But DSR doesn't have that 20 person restriction at all, so wulf's mod isn't necessary.
