Is the purpose of this post to argue with people or are you looking for people to agree with you?
I'm curious, what would you mark as the topic answer? What would be the ideal comment, an ideal respone to this in your opinion?
I can understand all your complaints but this is the first dark souls so it's normal to find it strange.
If you like dark souls 3 and want more you can try playing ds1.
DS1 is more about knowing the area, enemies, and positions than fast combat. Compared to DS3 and ER it's a sharp difference and it's also worth mentioning that Fromsoft was not given enough time to finish the game which is partly why the first half is considered better and why some things just make no sense. Some parts like Demon Ruins and Izalith just overall suck and are blatanly unfinished due to time constraints. My only complaint about the remake is that they didn't use it as a chance to "fix" it but then again the remaster was outsourced as far as I know.
People that played Elden Ring first tend to complain about all three Dark Souls games. I've found that with the exception of Bloodborne people tend to prefer the first Fromsoft RPG they played including the original Demon Souls. Hardcore Souls fans stereotypicaly don't like Elden Ring (I loved the whole first half of ER, but the second half...)
I'd say DS3 is "conventionally" harder except for a few situations where DS3 feels like it's trying to be hard for the sake of being hard whereas DS1 prefers to punish those who aren't observant or conservative with their resources. Playing aggressively or trying to dodge like it's a later game will get you killed but unlike the later games armor and shields are actually effective until later NG+ cycles so if you learn the bosses it balances out.
I prefer DS1 and I don't really like DS3 but I give 3 a fair try again every now and then because it isn't bad and the armor sets lure me back. If you don't like 1 then don't play it but that being said I hated 1 when I first tried it and came back years later with the remake and now I mostly love it. While 3 is more finished and has more content I feel like 1 does a better job of letting me play how I want to rather than just dodging and light attacking until the boss eventually dies. I prefer the relative simplicity of the boss and weapon movesets but I understand why some people don't. I also prefer the atmosphere of 1, which I feel 3 is missing.
Capra Demon overall just sucks because of the dogs but much like the Taurus Demon you can use part of the boss room to your advantage.
Easiest way I've found to kill the Capra aside from bombing him from outside his boss room is to get a good stability shield and a weapon with a thrust attack (or a narrow/vertical hitbox). Run up the stairs behind him (might take a few tries) and use the shield to block him and the dogs.
When the dogs come up the stairs stab them.
The Capra Demon will always do his high damage jump attack when he gets halfway up the stairs and his AI doesn't like you being up there so it will take him a bit to saunter back to this position. Use this time to use ranged attacks like spells or arrows (not firebombs or knives or you'll fall off the ledge). Fireball is high damage but short range and might casue you to fall off the ledge. Block when he gets halfway up the stairs and conserve your stamina.
Alternatively you can plunge attack him from the ledge but it is way riskier and you probably won't be able to repeat it over and over safely like with the Taurus Demon.
The dragon is an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. If you deal enough damage with a bow from under the bridge you'll get a sword from his tail and maybe even drive him off. I think poison makes him go away too but I don't remember for sure. You can try to bait him into fighting you in melee but his damage is absurd and his hitboxes janky and he might just whip out his fire anyway. Unless you're doing a faith build or want the claymore (it's on one of the corpses) the room beyond him is not worth your trouble.
I use K/M, don't like controller except for sports, platformers, driving, etc.
The big fix in the remaster was the stable framerate and fixes to the framerate related bugs (falling through floors when sliding down ladders, delayed AOE effects, etc.). Other than that there's not much difference.
It's designed around controller so it doesn't work well on keyboard. That being said I used to strongly dislike controllers until I got the PS4 controller. It fits my hands well and doesn't give me cramps like the 360 controller did.
Dark Souls 1 is about mastery over the jank.
IMO the only thing ER has over the other souls games (other than visuals) is the dedicated jump button. Jumping and jump attacks feels like such a great addition to the moveset.
Becoming a jank master is defiantly part of it but knowing the boss patterns is also important. A lot of boss attacks can be dodged by moving slightly right or walking between their legs. I'd say it's a combo of jank and moveset knowledge.
I feel like the jumping helped with Miyazaki's fixation on platforming but kinda broke STR builds.
It might reduce the constant whiners and crybabies we get here.
My favorite was the twit that wanted the controls to be like a fighting game. It occurs to me that this might have been their first FPHS (First Person Hack and Slash) if fighting game controls were the only thing they knew.
