I enjoy everything you mentioned also. Ive beaten Morrowind 3 times and once with the Tramriel rebuilt mod and on top of countless other games where theirs zero hand holding. Gothic 2, Wizardry 8, BG1-2, Icewind Dale, Outward so countless other games. I just find DS1 to be mid in terms of level design.
To be fair, most people don't like Blightown. It has a... reputation.
It lags pretty bad, restricts mobility, and has the blowdart dudes and later on in the game it preludes the gloriously unfinished Demon Ruins and Izalith.
DS 1 was the first in the series...your criticism is jaded from being new to the series. I was burnt out on the formula when 3 came around and it took me 5 years to finish it. Elden Ring revived that by changing way more than souls did from 1 to 3.....
3 was my least favorite because it was just a rehash of 1...I felt 2 was better than 3 too
it's not mid...was never mid and was critically acclaimed...Your opinions are very niche and very strong. DS 1 did way more for gaming than 3 didand lies of P wouldn't exist without it.
I can tell from your posts your raging lol...if your sick of souls put it down..thats what I did with 3
Well that actually makes me feel a bit better actually. At least its not just me lol. I just find it to be meh. like i said. Its not horrible or even bad but its not on par with future fromsoft designs.
I agree with the first half of what your saying but OP doesn't really seem burnt out on Souls as much as their expectations were maybe too high based on the hype or later games. DS1 is my favorite souls game and I'll be one of the first to say some aspects haven't aged well in comparison to later games like QoL improvements and general controls or ambitions.
I hated DS1 the first time I played it and it took me a few tries with PTD, then the PS4 remaster, and then the PC remaster before I actually liked it.
I prefer the simplicity of this game over the later ones because I don't like having a hundred things happening at once.
Im not raging though lol Even the dude above you agrees that blighttown is meh. I just dont think DS1 is that great. End of story.
And i agree that its critically acclaimed. Thats why im going to finish it because i love fromsoft. Im just not a fanboy who has to love everything fromsoft makes. So far, DS1 is meh and DS3 is the goat. Just like i feel like you are wrong, you feel like i am. Its all just an opinion so no ones really right or wrong.
but im right and you're wrong :)
It's like me giving Super Mario Bros. a 1 because of linear level design..it's just not rational
Again im right and you are w r o n g. its ok
I think your raging cuz u died bud
You can have the last word if you really want it. Still wrong though.
I think DS 3's level design was bland and the game to be a complete rehash of DS 1....I don't bring it up because I probably played 3,000 hours of Souls from DeS onward until DS 3's release.
Everybody forgets about the progenitor, Demon's Souls.
no, i won't. i will literally be the first to tell you that the pvp is shallow and terribly balanced.
i noticed you dodged my question about how you react to a dark room in real life. tell me how bad of an environmental clue it is then.
i disagree. i think the theme of the final four areas is that they break some rule and i like what the no-visibility rule meant for the gameplay. i had to juggle between fighting in the dark with a shield and using a light, way back when.
