I hate the Tomb of Giants. It's just not fun and one of the enemies is insanely tough.

Maybe I'll like it one day.

Yes, tomb of the giants is awful. Either plow through, get the sunlight maggot, or quit. Grinding out the sunlight maggot makes it a LOT more bearable.

To each their own. Tomb of the giants saved the second half of this game for me, besides optional locations like ash lake and painted worlds.

But you didn't even state how you are trapped.

I didn't think it was that bad, without overly difficult enemies. But then, this was the next to last zone for me, and a lot of players. Had a divine weapon to make the final boss easier. The hardest part was the room with several giants in it that guarded the Divine Titanite Slab.

Sunlight Maggot helmet helps, and many are in Lost Izalith before Tomb of Giants. Though maybe a lot don't know they need it or how to get it. However also you can get a Skull Lantern that drops inside the area and I did find one early one.

I'm trapped because I went there before getting the Lordvessel and I have to slog my way all the way back to the first bonfire.

after enough experience you don't even need a light, I just run to the bonfire and then talk to patches. The items here are pretty much useless to me, except the Sanctus
