DS PTDE with DsFix is indeed inferior than Ds Remastered graphical and performance-wise, people are only lying themselves if they say otherwise. The team that did the remastered version certainly did go through the game codings and make sure that the game ultilize more CPU and GPU power. However, if you're only interested in the PvE aspect of the game then this is a bad buy. $20 for a little performance improvement and barely noticeable graphical changes just doesn't seem worth it for me.
Agreed about the price. £17.50 is a bit steep price. When Remastered is on sale, if the 50% price drop still applies on top of sale price, then maybe. Maybe then.
It's still very tempting though even at this price, for PvE. Although it's easy to forget how painful DS can be. ... I ain't never going to play PvP, because of cheaters/hackers. That's my defualt position on that.
Also besides performance and graphics, password summoning is a thing dsfix does not add.
DSFix is also faurly buggy when it comes to physics. DS: Re is better.
Even though I am waiting for a good sale before I buy it, it's till tempting now. Usually I wait for games to get fixed before I buy them. However I would be surprised if Remastered gets fixed, given DS1 track record. Maybe though.
I remember falling off a branch in Blighttown with PtDE. I hope that bug is fixed.
Playing by controller prompts was exceptionally hard work. It meant lots of checking the controls on websites. It meant many times getting lost in the menus.
Also because it took me ages to get DSFix going, I forgot all the tutorial. Playig remastered could be quite different.
Multi item usage. Swapping covenants at the bonfire. No phasing through the ground if I try to slide down a ladder in blight town. Better control options if you want them.
(major physics glitches in blight town sorted? ues. 'Flew off a branch for no seeming reason', no that's pure 100% authentic darksouls regardless of what version).
Keep an eye out for anyone crying over the weapon matchmaking. Even if they pretend "It's for co-op alts!" you know they just miss invading fresh faced newbies with maxed out weapons in undead burg.
