Accidentally attacked Oswald of Carim
12 hours in and I was completely loving this game. Long story short, accidentally hit Oswald of Carim (the only NPC who can forgive you for attacking NPCs) when exiting a menu. From what I can tell the game's now broken and I have no choice but to restart. I don't have much time to play games these days so I really don't see myself replaying those 12 hours to get back to where I was. I do like the difficulty of this game but don't see how this is anything but game breaking and mindless design.

You can finish the game just fine without him, well unless you really wanted the well what is it gesture or you are the type that racks up sin to the point npcs become hostile or you switch covenants constantly.

Yeah, he's not *that* important really. Just dont attack any more NPCs :WinkHamster:

Too late, restarted. I play KB+M and there seems to be some glitch where exiting steam overlay or some in-game menus will trigger either an attack motion or estus flask...that is how I accidentally hit him. Not sure if it is my key bindings or an actual glitch.

It does the same for me, I just make it a habit of not being near an npc when I shift tab.

I usually pull up the ingame menu on the top right. You can't attack when that menu is up. I've hit a few NPCs after exiting steam overlay in the PTDE days.

So a tip on that: When near an NPC do it like a respectable medieval individual would do anyway and toggle to a low-AR weapon when tlaking to NPCs. If you are twohanding, just onehand they don't mind fumbles much if it's not enough to injure them.

Also you can turn away from them while talking, then you don#t hit them either.

And on all NPCs a fumble isn't so bad. Only attacking Oswald is unforgivable, so since it's a big hassle to visit him anyway and there won't be any enemies near him, just unequip your stuff.
