Circle strafing op?
New player here. I've been playing only offline mode to not get invaded(to get full experience, might go online in ng+) so I realise circle strafing is freaking op on the enemies.
Got a bunch of undead? Seperate them and circle strafe+backstab. It only doesn't work on mini bosses or bosses. I'm in undead parish and this has been working on EVERY. SINGLE. ENEMY. Its fun on the first few tries but after that it gets kinda boring.
Am i doing something wrong or it gets better later or its just like this the whole game. I've been promised challenging combat and if circle strafe+backstab every enemy is considered challenging then i'm confused
I sure as hell hope combat involves more skill later on

Who forces you to play like that? Dark Souls by design has a difficulty setting that comes naturally by the way you play and how much time you spend leveling up and searching for items.

You will defeat the majority of enemies and bosses that way, but not all. If it ruins the fun for you, then don't do it.

I stopped doing it. I just wanna know if it will get less viable later on. You didnt answer the question mate

PVE enemies are much easier to backstab than PVP enemies(things like using Fire Surge while backpeddling and rolling through opponents with a single piece of the Armour of Thorns can stop "backstab fishers").

All(?) bosses and bigger PVE enemies can't be backstabbed and watch out for "full circle"
horizontal attacks(or attacks from behind; Artorias throws purple stuff behind him, those "fire spiders" in B-town can "poo" fire if you are behind them). Circling someone using wrath if the gods is not going to help you, lol.

Use whatever you can to beat this difficult game, unless you find it too easy and want more of a challenge. Late game PVP depends on circle strafing...to some extent.

The early game can be backstabbed through. Most enemies later in the game can't be backstabbed or they leave less of an opening to do so.

Strafing is the best way to dodge most ranged attacks. You are locked on...you can see your opponent shooting...move to one side.

Cool to see a branching out from dodge focus:

Btw, you don't have to stay offline to avoid invasions. Just staying hollow does it also.

some of the bigger weapons make very satisfying squishes of targets. It's worth not backstabbing sometimes just to see that.

Also, while hollow you can still invade a gravelord. Be warned; they don't usually activate an EoD unless they have maxed out that character's potential...try waiting(surviving) to gank with other's("Praise the Sun"). You'll probably lose to the servant, but you don't lose anything.

Serving is awesome!

Undead parish? So you're like, 30 minutes into the game and asking if your strategy will last until endgame?! ... bahahaha .. you're in for a rude awakening.

First of all, circle strafing is something everyone does. You're not inventing the wheel here. It's an expected, intended, and intuitive element of strategy to the game. It's the most basic skill you need to survive.

Secondly, even with circle strafing there are many many many instances where it simply doesn't work.

Third, circle strafing is intended to be effective in many situations. Not every enemy in the game is designed to send you back to the bonfire.

In a way, your post sounds like a gloat to be honest. Maybe you're just superman and really good at the game? Idk, but this game is definitely not won by "circle strafing".

The undead Parish might as well be part of the tutorial. You're nowhere near where the game wakes up from its slumber. Not that anybody will care if you come back saying the rest of it is easy as well. To each their own.

If the game bores you to tears because it's so easy, I suggest looking for another game.

Aww naw
Also it’s like 2 hours in now
Also happy it’s gonna be hard. Just finished sekiro so I played this anticipating something hard

If you already played a "souls-like" you will have an edge in all other's. Because of PTDE I was able to beat DS2 and The Surge with many less rage quits, lol.
