Its a George rr martin reference when Jk Rowling said she found it hard to kill of characters.
Anyways, it might seem that 20k souls is a lot at the moment but in the long run it really isn't. You could farm those souls back in a matter of minutes.
If you truly enjoyed the game up to now, stick with it. You still have a ton to discover.
Just don't play the game when angry because you are more prone to mistakes that way.
It's just too much stress
I used to have that problem often when I would 'button mash' since it seems like the game locks certain input during animations and then takes the FIRST button you press after the window opens. Slowing way down helped me out tremendously.
I have never accidentally rolled off a ledge tho, never had any accidental rolls (outside of button mashing.) Since you mentioned a keyboard input issue, have you confirmed the game isnt doing random inputs on you from a different source or something?
Also the double inputs is something that happens in menu and everything, it's something entirely different to how animations/ button inputs will queue. It's completely random, but it happens fast enough that it doesn't ruin my combat experience (as in the second input is so close to the first that it won't "queue" the action again in combat)
Visually and theoretically I think it's amazing but in practice it's just annoying as opposed to challenging. (for me at least, having adhd and anxiety)
I feel this several fold now that I've seen the absolutely amazing design in the first half of DS1, I honestly feel like Sens Fortress is still a hell of a lot better than the damned cathedral... the one thing that got me is that random roll out of literally nowhere exactly as I found the single bonfire in the fortress. Now I have to wait until I'm not angry at the game to get back there lol
But yes.... looking forward to Anor Londo. As long as it doesn't have areas you can only get to by jumping, I shouldn't hate it as much as Cathedral of the Deep (being challenging is one thing, forcing players to use bad controls is another)
Playing while frustrated, trying to rush to get back to progress and reclaim your lost souls will usually just make you die even more. So no shame in taking a break to cool off, then trying again.
Anor Londo can be quite frustrating the first time as well, so be prepared for that. Patience will be required xD
The only problem is the blades of "you fall and die now" when there are also enemies around. That is the one thing I have had any trouble with here, just when the game decides to throw me off a cliff when I'm literally above the bonfire it gets a bit stressful
Also I haven't actually found any of the bosses in this game that hard. They all have a specific trick or two that makes them hilarious pushovers, have purposefully not looked up guides cause of how easy it's been.
Having only finished Nioh I find the normal enemies and level design pretty hard here but the bosses are actually insanely easy and slow. The only boss I've had trouble with in this series was the Crystal Sage from DS3
I can't help but wonder how many of these "janky" animations (enemy jump attacks borderline teleport when going up or down stairs) and controller problems are from the remaster. Too bad I could never stand this game at 30fps lol
But yeah, that roll has happened to me as well. Some times it feels like the game queues something and then it happens like 5-10 seconds later for some weird reason. It's weird. But also, not especially common. As for enemies and how they move, to be honest you just have to learn how it all works. The first time through the game a lot of stuff will surprise you for sure, and you just have to be quick on the uptake to minimize how many times you get smoked by the same things.
I know it's easy to explain how to deal with something when you've done everything in the game 300 times over, and it's very difficult the first time. But usually the unfair feeling stuff seems less so once you understand how to deal with it. Jank like that random roll aside ofc.
In the end i guess i'm just trying to tell you to stick with it. It's a good game even if it has some shortcommings and when you finally beat it, it feels pretty damn good :)
