Well, I guess you'll have lot of fun in the other Dark Souls games too.
This is actually quite typical for the first one. The later games cater more to the hub version (DS2, with a the similar mechanic to Demon's Souls), and DS3 even quicker as I recall.
Different functionality in the gear (consoles) available, and different expectations for the modern gamer.
