I love both Prepare to die and the remastered since the game is good so i will recommend it BUT i detest the corprate approach FromSoftware did with remove prepare to die which cost 20 euros and only made the remastered version available to by for 40 euros, which mean the patch bundles price is 20 euros.
the bad reviews are simply a protest
I still have Prepare to Die right here, I played it the other day.

Just compare Shadow of Colossus' remaster to Dark Souls. It's pretty shocking how little effort went into remastering Dark Souls.
However, I am very happy that I can play this on my PS4 now, and soon on my Switch. But the remaster for PC players seemed to only make it look like DSFix was turned on.
Anyway, that's my guess at why there are so many bad and mixed reviews.
2. Remaster introduced new bugs and glitches while plenty of even gamebreaking bugs are still present(Priscilla moan glitch that locks your progression).
3. On top of that they added 6 player multiplayer and password matchmaking that is simply unnecessary.
4. They added weapon matchmaking that kills early non password coop without fixing twink problem.
5. Backstabs are still broken in PvP and PvE.
People defend this version as this is just remaster. But they are wrong. If this was given for free to owners of PTDE then it would be ok. They did not fix old issues and I'm talking about gamebreaking bugs and plenty of wellknown bugs. Textures are still bad in some places, In some areas lightning is worse then in orginial version. Looking at other remasters it's nothing more then patch for 20$ that we waited for 7 freakin long years.
TL;DR - patch for 20$ 7 years too late that introduced more problems then fixes.
