My current stats
Edit: Does the spider shield have an anti toxin/poison mechanic? I'm using a baldars shield right now. I don't think when I was selecting my equipment that it seemed better but I don't know if equipment can have hidden mechanics/stats.
Get the Spider Shield. It can help you block poison attacks from the giant mosquitoes and the giant slugs at lower Blighttown. The Spider Shield can also block toxic attacks from blow pipe snipers, including snipers near the bottom layer and snipers found at upper Blighttown. Use a bow and arrows to snipe the flying enemies.
Purple Moss Clump can be useful, so is Blooming Purple Moss Clump. Farm these from the Demonic Foliage at Darkroot Garden, or purchase them from the Female Undead Merchant. Enter Blighttown with an upgraded Estus Flask, e.g. +1 or higher. Ensure you have at least 10 uses of the Estus Flask. Bring some Humanities with you to kindle the various bonfires at Blighttown.
You want to enter lower Blighttown as soon as possible because most enemies there drop valuable upgrade materials such as Large Titanite Shards. The upgrade materials will be useful against the area boss.
Ok, the Spider Shield is better than the Baldar shield for Blighttown, good to know. I'll work on upgrading it instead.
I don't have the master key, I was told it was better experience for a noob at the game without being able to unlock areas they shouldn't go into yet.
I also think I can't get a +1 estus flask until later since I used the item that enhances it. I thought you used it to get the bonus and now I guess I'm screwed out of it until I get another...whatever that item was. But on the bright side I have plenty of humanity to kindle the bonfires.
Thanks for the tips.
Oswald of Carim (the confessor near the Gargoyles's arena) sale you a ring against Poison (for a very high price).
OP will need some way to deal with mosquitoes, preferably at range. Soul Arrow is really good for this as each cast does pretty much exactly the right damage to kill one mosquito, and you get just enough charges to deal with all of them on each trip. But any ranged damage will help.
General advice - don't panic. Look around. Don't get into combat on shaky ground, drag them back to some place you're comfortable. Ladders are indicated by torches. If you see toxic start building up get into cover _immediately_ - there is a blowgun sniper targeting you.
But you can spent them to reinforce Bonfires if you don't want to be too worried about that.
On the other hand, Firekeeper Souls are rare because you can only legitimately obtain at most 7 of those in a single playthrough. Again, for new players I would suggest you make a suicide run to New Londo Ruins to obtain the Firekeeper Soul there. The run isn't difficult or dangerous, and might be easier than you think. This video shows you how to do the run to New Londo Ruins to collect the Firekeeper Soul. Start from timestamp 3:45
