Is it really that bad after Anor Londo?
I played this game like ages ago and I really remember an incomplete area. But is it really a plummet in quality? Does the expansion help even out the failings of the late game?

The rushed Lost Izalith is the the only major outlier. It does get noticeably easier, after Anor Londo, though, due to the amount of HP and weapon-LV, you should have at that point and bosses overall becoming more gimmicky, with not much beyond that. Endgame's still overall good.
Especially the DLC. I'd consider the DLC the filet-piece of this game. IMO they're always the best parts of soulsbornes with the most fun bosses.
Naposledy upravil JellyPuff; 5. dub. 2022 v 9.00
what are you talking about there is no incomplete area
what are you talking about there is no incomplete area
Lost Izalith is clearly incomplete.
bruh, hassans streams are that way.
I thought the DLC had some of the best content in the game. Challenging bosses, solid level design. I enjoyed it.

After Anor Londo, I realized that Fromsoft actually hates the west and "Miyazaki filled in gaps" is just BS to try and get away with it.

Elden Ring also still shows that they hate the west.
The west will make 10 Ghost of Tsushima love letters to Japan before Fromsoft will make a single one for the west that isn't insulting, clownish and a farce.
They will never make armors look normal. They will never do actual research on the folklore significance of the things they use, even though we're in pretty much the futuristic age where there's people eager to help out anywhere.

All Fromsoft game are an elaborate joke, and the west is the punchline.

Fire Giant in Elden Ring for example (because reaching for things like armor and the like is too easy)

Giants are significant in Germanic folklore. Ymir for example, pretty significant.
Fire is also significant in Germanic folklore, it's connected to blood, to life.
(As is gold, it's tied to light/flames, a bit like blood drops for light, an eternal metal)

Now, with a little bit of research, effort, the fire giant could have been something substantial worthy of admiration, even as an enemy.
Being large is pretty fantastical in itself.

But nothing I could say here will matter.

What they did was:
Fire giant scoops snow.
Fire giant carries a weird tray (not anything smithing or fire related)
Has a face on his torso (which is a Japanese thing, but it's stupid in this case)
Beard for an apron.
Rolls around like a monkey/madman.
Pulls off his own leg due to it burning if you attack it with magic etc.
And then turns into a cyclops with a sharingan eye from naruto.
(and yeah yeah sharingan already has eye in it..but it's just an argument here)

Why? Why can't it be normal? Why does it have to be this rucking fetarded?
Same with Dark Souls and Angkor Wat filled with lava and dead dragon asses en masse.
Wtf man. What does that have to do with the west.

Why must Smough be such a degenerate? Why must armors be so asinine? Why must the weapons be completely bonkers.
Why must sens fortress be takeshis castle.

Why must it all be insanity. Is that their vision of the west? Everything is just some random inane BS without rhyme or reason throughout our entire history?

Apparently.

The game mechanics are fun, though, and I think that's where the lifeblood of the series comes from.
But boy is it awful and insulting, really. It's not if you just let that slide, but if you actually cared about it, like they cared about Ghost of Tsushima. Then you too would probably wonder what Fromsoft is thinking.

Cant be anything good, though. Even the story is dumb and both Japan and the West are animistic by nature, with Christianity being a foreign missionary invader over it.

But the comment is long enough now.
But once again, if the west made a game about Japan in the way Fromsoft does it, then they'd be insulted. 100%.
1. elden ring spoilers on the first game in the series' forum
2. why are you making it about geographical location

1.) It's just one monster of many. You'll be fine wielding asinine weapons and wearing asinine armors in ER.
2.) Fromsoft keeps making ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ insane things pertaining to Western culture, under the guise of Miyazaki "filling in gaps".
Which is, again, just a guise, a pretense to make some of the most asinine things. Albeit with a pretty good combat mechanics system.

I will stand by my words, though.
If the west made a game about Japan in the same way Fromsoft does it for the west, Japan would feel insulted.
Since it would hit them more clearly, whereas the 'west' is a much bigger cultural zone.
But they mess around with everything, they care not a bit.

meanwhile the people who made ghost of tsushima probably worried about getting even some of the finer details right.
LIke how tea leaves or stalks would behave in the water.

Fromsoft would just be Miyazaki screaming GAPPPPPPPPPP while crapping all over it.
The tea would be, I don't even know, I don't have his 'talent' of making something look superficially ok but fundamentally insane.

Probalby would make western tea some rancid meat water with a malformed homunculus at the bottom of the cup. Wearing a completely crazy armor, too.

not every game is about culture though?
It's definitely weaker than the first half, but it's a bit over exagerated. Lost izalith and demon ruins are terrible and rushed areas, tomb of the giants sucks, the catacombs and dukes archives are decent, and new londo ruins and darkroot garden are good. The second half feels more like a bunch of disconnected fetch quests instead of an actual adventure like the first half, and theres not as much world interconnectivity. The second half also includes the dlc which is fantastic and does help elevate the second half. The kiln and gwyn are good too.

despite the worse areas i still enjoyed finishing up questlines, finishing upgrading my gear and doing the few optional things to do before finishing the game. the dlc also saves the second half by a lot

European Armor didn't fall from the sky, it had to be invented by Europeans.
Giant's didn't fall from the sky, and neither did fire giants, both Germanic folklore.
Sif is the wife of Thor, a Germanic deity.
Manus can mean hand, but Mannus is also a Germanic deity and is related to 'man'.
Gothic architecture pertains to Germanic people (albeit in a derogatory way), via 'gotico'.
Oolacile could very well be a reference to Uracil, a part of RNA.
European weaponry didn't come from the sky either.
I don't want to write an essay again but the thing is:
Fromsoft takes from things like these and has yet to make something that is a truly noteworthy homage.
it usually is just a complete mockery or just lacking complete sense, and I am aware of Eastern view of the world vs Western.
That they care more about 'vibes' and stuff, but it gets grating after a while, seeing ONLY nonsense.

And I don't care if many people are fine with it, the fact that they are fine with it is sad and shows the double standards we are exposed to, since doing the same BS to others would be criticized harshly.
