Ideally, for PvP you want at least 1500 HP, so for example if you have level 100 Dex / Pyro and don't want to wear RoFAP, you can achieve that by wearing the Mask of Mother.
If you have close to 160 stamina, in other words 40 End or 30 End + RoFAP, you might not need the stamina regeneration so you might as well go with the Mask of Mother or simply Fashion Souls. You can always wear the Grass Crest Shield instead of MoTC as well.
Then again if you have a strength build and using the heaviest weapons available, then MoTC might be a better choice. Or maybe you need the MoTF to carry all that stuff. xD
Bonus stamina regen from the child mask is very nice to have, and it's worth noting that it does stack with the Grass Crest Shield (probably the most common shield in PvP). There are definitely niche situations in PvE where I would be happy to have the Child Mask because I want more stamina regen but I don't want to give up my shield slot.
But stamina regen in this game is already so high that it's seldom going to make a big difference. There just aren't that many situations in game where getting back your full stamina bar half a second faster is going to save your bacon compared to having 10% more HP so that you can survive another attack. Not saying it doesn't happen, but it's less common.
And the Father Mask is absolutely the worst. It weighs 1.2 lbs, which means that if you want to get into light rolls, it would need to give you +4.8 lbs just to break even compared to leaving your hat slot open . At 40 Endurance, it only gives you +4, so it's a net negative 0.8 for light roll purposes. Even if your goal is only to medium roll, it is giving you a net of only + 1.6 carrying capacity. So less than what you would get from putting a mere 2 levels into Endurance.
Compare that to the Mother Mask. At only 40 vitality (less than most PvP people have) the mother mask gives you plus 133 HP. That is more than the next 6 level ups would give you.
But let's compare the best case scenarios for each mask. The Mother Mask is at its practical best if the wearer has about 50 vitality and the RoFaP. At that point the mask is giving you +180 HP. That is more more than the next SEVENTEEN level ups in Vitality could get you counting the ring bonus to them.
The Father Mask is at its best if the wearer has Havel's Ring, RoFaP, and is way over the endurance stamina cap. Let's say 60 or so to be pretty generous. At that point the Father Mask is giving you +9 carrying capacity. If you're trying to get into fastroll though, it's effectively only giving you +4.2 carrying capacity over just taking the hat off. That is less than the benefit you would get from a mere THREE level ups into Endurance while wearing those rings.
There are different ways to compare things. But the general trend is that the Father Mask is almost always terrible compared to the Mother Mask. Even the famous Giantdad build is mathematically weaker than a Giantmom could be with a few level ups shifted around.
Yeah Father seems awful, but it is the signature headgear for Giant Dad.
Mask of the father is useless, as is Giant Dad as a build, it is just an overused meme, do not waste your time with this. ( https://clips.twitch.tv/PlacidPricklyScallionChefFrank )
