Controller stopped working (FIXED)

The controller simply stopped working, and the game will only allow me to use keyboard and mouse. I'm using an xbox 1 controller, and i can confirm that the controller is connected and working as intended in other games. How do i fix this?

EDIT: Fixed by pressing ctrl + alt + delete inside the game and then clicking cancel.

I already did that, and tried some of the suggested solutions, and none of them worked. That is why i made this thread.

Oh, I'm sorry I can't help. I'm playing with keyboard and mouse. I hope you'll find someone who knows what to do.

First things first; What type and model of controller?
Xbox 360, Xbox 1, PS3, PS4, wired, wireless (360 dongle is radio), or bluetooth.

I'm using Xbox one wired. I did that to not have wireless issues after my Xbox 360 wired died.

W* gets really, really stupid re controllers. Which is ... oops. what version of W*?
W7 never game me trouble, but W10 routinely gets upset if anything gets unplugged. Also W10 doesn't always use the same order if you have multiple USB things plugged in.

happens to me with them too. what i do is i unplug, remove the pairing, repair, if that doesnt work unpair, restart your pc then re-pair it

I'm using an xbox one controller wired, so there is no pairing to do.

It started working again after i have had the computer turned off for the night. Note that i did turn it off and on again yesterday but it didn't work then for whatever reason. Very strange.

Same thing happened to me with my xbox one s wired for windows, it stops working after i ALT TAB, happened to at least one person i know. I have to restart the PC to get it working again, very annoying. My xbox 360 works fine though, no matter how many times i ALT TAB.

Just for my own interest, do you have any other USB items plugged in (besides KB/M)?

I used to have the same issue until i reinstalled the game. Try it

it happened to me as well, when I toggle to a different window on my screen, this game started to not to recognise mt controller, with or without the cable, then I try steam big screen mod, and other game which used to be ok with my controller, which then stopped working as well, i was panicing, then I try steam big windown configuration which didnot seem to help at the moment, then I restart my pac and steam for a while, finally it start working

Yes, i have my headset on a usb port(a corsair one) I tried un-plugging everything when it happens but it persists and i have to restart the PC.
